Collierville is a town in Robertson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. The Collierville ZIP code is 37210. The town was founded by Andrew Jackson in 1815 as asite for his military campaigns against Native Americans and other settlers living on the Cumberland Plateau south of Nashville. The log cabin that became the first permanent resident house in Collierville was built by John Crain in 1816 when he started farming there with his brother-in-law David Ladd and their wives Mary (Ladd) Ballard and Martha Ann Neely. In 1830, John Crain's son James Crain donated land for an academy to be used for educating future Tennesseans about agriculture, law, government, science, morality and theology; it became Vanderbilt University. In 1841, James Crain's wife Anna moved from Louisville to collierville with her three children: James Crain II (baptized March 12th 1840), Julia (baptized December 12th 1841), and Franklin Templeton Rusk Jr., who later served as Ulysses S. Grant's Vice Presidential running mate during the 44th president election of 1868; Anna died September 5th 1865 at age 71 years old after giving birth to her second child while they were living in Collierville Four days later Rusk married Fannie Elizabeth Hinton at the home of Rev. A J Hanna; they had two children before she died also in 1865 aged 71 years old In 1850s local citizens developed a water system which diverted water from springs near present day Neyland Avenue into what is now River Roadstead Park which drained through Indian Mound east of downtown Nashville into river below where people could fish or Boat out for pleasure until Mobile Bridge across River turned it into no man's land Some buildings still standing today include original courthouse building on current site of State Capitol Building – largest brick structure west of Mississippi – Female Seminary next door to Springhouse Hotel on present day Summit Avenue – First Baptist Church – Male Episcopal Church – Post Office - hardware store - restaurant - movie theater - gift shop - bank - Masonic Lodge #2 A new school district was formed in 1901 called East Tennessee Schools District based on vote by residents of Collierville over issue whether or not to incorporate within new general government entity created due to growth rates within district paralleling those throughout state with one exception: Highland High School located just outside city limits did not join because students Thereafter East Tennessee Schools District merged with Rutherford CountySchool District which had jurisdiction over all but Highland High School

The Collierville area was first settled by Tennessee pioneers in the 1820s. The early town was named after General Andrew Johnson, who fought in the Mexican-American War and was later a U.S. president. The community grew rapidly due to its location on the Tennessee River, which made it an important trading post for farmers and traders. Collierville began to prosper as a small town during the 1800s, thanks to its location and valuable trade ties with other parts of Tennessee and Kentucky. In 1822, the United States Congress passed a bill granting land east of the river to settlers in what is now Collierville. This new community quickly became one of the most popular in southern Tennessee due to its convenient location, good agriculture resources, and friendly locals. During the late 1800s and into the 1900s, Collierville experienced some growth spurt thanks to white migration from surrounding states such as Alabama and Georgia. Many young people from these areas came to work in Collierville's many factories and businesses during this time period. Additionally, changes within American society caused collieries throughout eastern Tennessee (and beyond) to switch from coal mining operations towards oil production during this time period. As a result, Collierville experienced some rapid growth throughout much of this decade – ultimately leading to its current status as one of southeastern Tennessee's most populous towns."
