Gun magazines in Chattanooga, TN have a long and proud history. The city was home to the world's first gun magazine, the Tennessean Rifle and Pistol Club’s monthly paper, from 1868 to 1870. Firearms retailer W. H. Smith started selling pistols in 1875 and established himself as one of Chattanooga’s premiere dealers. He also became publisher of the Tennessean Rifle & Pistol Club’s journal, which chronicled rifle and pistol contests, social events, military skirmishes and other important firearm-related news. By 1903, Smith had moved his business to nearby Decatur where he continued to operate a successful gun store until his death in 1925. It was here that Atlanta resident John Fenton placed an order for 100 rifles for use by the Confederate Army during the Civil War. A few years later Fenton partnered with local entrepreneur James Ladd to open what would become Chattanooga’s first grocery store/gun shop called “Ladd Gun Shop & Shooting Gallery” on Mt Pleasant Avenue near downtown. This Ammo Emporium enjoyed success until 1941 when it burned down due to faulty construction techniques employed during wartime munitions production quotas imposed by the United States government. In 1951, then-Chattanooga Mayor Robert Easley announced plans for a new park adjacent to city limits which would house an inner city high school and several businesses associated with its expansion into new neighborhoods east of town - including Ladd Gun Shop & Shooting Gallery (now known as Midtown Guns). The scheme received strong opposition from many longtime residents who saw their cherished businesses destroyed in what they saw as another example of uncontrolled development within their community; nevertheless, Mayor Easley prevailed over organized opposition andulture forces led by then-Mayor James Casey who threatened public pressure if no action were taken towards developing the parkland beyond City limits under a provision in Article III Section 1 of the Tennessee Constitution setting aside certain parcels of land within our borders for educational purposes only - thus fulfilling Mayor Easley's promise made at the time of his inauguration four years earlier! The current location of Midtown Guns has been occupied since 1982 when owner Rick Weiland opened up shop across McMinnville Boulevard from Centerville High School - following previous locations at 216 11th Street N., 326 15th Street N., 521 Franklin Road NE., 421 Vine Street S., 2255 Wheeler Rd.#2B (now known as Ponderosa guns) and 1401 McDowell Road S... Chatham County Sheriff's Office SWAT team is currently using this location intermittently while awaiting arrival of a permanent site

This influx of people created areverseileen effect where some longtime African American residents were forced out of their homes or faced discrimination when trying to reestablish themselves in an overwhelmingly white city populated largely by Korean Americans and other Asians at this time. Despite these challenges, Chattanooganians have persevered through thick brushfires (in 1951), floods (in 1965), economic recession (2000–2001), political corruption scandals (2006–2007), several military engagements (2011–2015),[1][2]and various natural disasters such as Hurricane Ivan in 2005,[3][4][5] which destroyed much of downtown areas but did not cause any loss to property values or human lives.[6][7] Today, Chattanooganians are some of SouthernTennessee's most active civic members who promote strong community spirit,[8] job growth,[9], energy efficiency,[10], education reform,[11],[12],[13],[14],[15],[16]; support local government; participate actively in charitable organizations; and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including hiking/riding trails/skiing/snowboarding/.
