Brownsville is a small town in Tennessee located on the Kentucky-Tennessee border. The population was 2,242 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County. The town was founded by John Sevier in 1802 as a post office and trading center for the area. The first store in Brownsville was built in 1814, and the first school was built in 1816. The present courthouse was built in 1909. Brown's Store, an early brick store building that still stands today, served as a commercial center for Brownsville for over 150 years until it closed its doors on November 26, 2009. Many of the local businesses that remain today were started or continue to operate thanks to help from local resident Pat Fenton and her husband Donny Fenton who rebuilt/ reopened many of them after they closed down during economic downturns nationally. In 2006, Brownsville became home to one of Tennessee’s first open air shopping malls when Gateway Mall opened its doors with anchors including Sears Holdings Roebuck and JCPenney. In addition to anchor stores such as Macy’s and Sears, Gateway also features restaurants such as Italian spot Pizzeria Bianco and Texaco gas station which remains operational today (now known as Crazy Eats). Today Brownsville is full of new businesses being born out of necessity due to technological advancements (such as Amazon) or simply because people are willing to relocate for work opportunities outside their home state or country but don't have access to those same amenities - like Wal-Mart - within driving distance anymore! With more than 50% percent online retail sales done through digital platforms (Etsy, Shopbop), many residents feel they have lost out on much needed business opportunities while larger metropolitan areas have flourished with little competition whatsoever; something that will be sure to happen if current trends stay true!

In 1903, American John James Audubon developed a new type of airgun that used hot air to propel projectiles. This weapon is now known as an air pistol.
Brownsville is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It was founded on July 3, 1892 by J.W. Dickey and W.H. Overstreet as a post office called Brownstown.[1] The name of the original town has been changed several times over the years including to Brownsville Junction (1892), Brownstown (1906), and finally Brownsville in 1907. Brownsville is located at 36°10′59″N 90°27′24″W (36.155667, -90.566667). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 km² (0 sq mi).
The Brownsville, Tennessee post office was established in 1881. In 1907, the population of Brownsville was 1,746. From 1909 to 1959, the town had a one-time mayor named Virgil Bigham.
