Bristol is located on the Cumberland River and has a humid subtropical climate. In 1847, Bristol became part of Tennessee when it was organized as a state under President James K. Polk. Bristol experienced significant growth during World War II due to its status as one of the most heavily bombed cities in America from 1942 through 1945. The war caused major destruction throughout much of Bristol but also resulted in many new businesses being established and increased population levels which continue into present day%. During World War II, Bristol also played host to several large Air Force bases such as RAF Brize Norton (later RAF Cosford) and UTICA (later UTICAF). After World War II, much progress was made within downtown Bristol including construction of two skyscrapers – One Tower at 21st Street South & Third Avenue South (now FirstEnergy Center) and then Second Tower at 25th Street South & Third Avenue South – both built 1981-1983 by Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP Architects LLP under contract with Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s office for $231 million dollars cost over 22 years with no interest paid until now! In 1990 City Council decided that “It would be better if all functions were moved out of downtown so that they could more easily connect with other services offered by government entities such as law enforcement or government agencies responsible for housing." On July 1st 1990 all functions moved back onto Main Street from 4th Ave S to 3rd Ave S effective immediately! Bristol has since seen continued growth with several new high rise buildings being erected across main street including: One Tower at 21st Street South & Third Avenue South (now FirstEnergy Center), Two Towers at 25th StreetSouth & Third AvenueSouth – both built 1981-1983 by Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP Architects LLP under contract with Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s office for $231 million dollars cost over 22 years with no interest paid until now!, Three towers totaling 653 feet tall - One tower currently stands 610 feet tall! All told this has created tens of thousands jobs along main street!!
