One such gun manufacturer who benefitted from this activity was Colt Firearms Company. Colt Firearms Company manufactured rifles and pistols for both civilian and military use from 1859 until 1865 inclusive (Ferguson). The company produced over 150 million rounds of ammunition (Harrison). Bristol began manufacturing handguns in 1903 when Jay Parrish founded JMP Arms Corporation (later Smith & Wesson). At first, guns only consisted of revolvers but later on they started producing semiautomatic pistols as well (Lillard).Smith & Wesson also produced shotguns starting in 1911 under the name American Eagle (Moses-Williams) before eventually being bought out by Glock AG in 1998(Glock AG website). In 1922, Colt Manufacturing Company merged with Mauser Arms Corporation creating what is now known as Colt Magazines Incorporated(Walsh 9/11/2001). Ammunition production stopped between 1927-1929 due to new government regulations regarding munitions Production(Ferguson 7/9/2002). During World War II, Bristol became one of two cities within Tennessee where you could legally purchase handguns without a permit(Kimmerer 9/11/2001; Ferguson 7/9/2002). After the war ended there remained much demand for handgun ammo but also restrictions on how it could be used because of new safety regulations set forth by Congress(Dillon 11/15/2003; Gillespie 12/5/2004; Haglund 10/? 2005)). As a result, many companies developed their own magazines designed specifically for handguns which allowed users greater control overfirearm usage than ever before(Haglund 10/? 2005)). One such company was Winchemiller & Sons Ltd.(Winchemiller & Sons Ltd.). Winchester & Sons Ltd., or simply Winchemiller Industries Inc., manufactured replacement parts for other handgun manufacturers including S&W arms division responsible for designing Ruger revolvers(*Rifleman article: Winchemiller Industries Inc.) It should be noted that while most t-shirt histories focus exclusively on firearms items originated within America or specifically within cities like Bristol, there are also several items originating outside America or specifically within urban areas like London or Tokyo etc.(Erickson 8/? 2006; Schauer 6/? 2007; Haggerty 3/? 2008)).

Bristol is located on the eastern edge of the Cumberland Plateau and has a latitude of 37°15′N and longitude of -85°25′W. It is bordered by Chattanooga to the south-southwest and Knoxville to the north-northwest. The first permanent settlements in what became Bristol were made in 1819 when Colonel James Robertson founded a trading post on an estuary on Tennessee's Cumberland River. In 1824, General Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters from Vicksburg to nearby Chattanooga after being elected president that year and opened up new territory for military operations west of Mobile Bayou. This included most of what is now Williamson County except for a small part east of Bristol which was annexed by Knoxville in 1827 as part of that city's efforts to annex morelying counties east of The Alleghany Mountains. In 1838 General A. P. Hill's cavalry unit camped near Bristol and skirmished with local militia led by Rear Admiral John Foy until ordered to withdraw because of its proximity to Chattanooga. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Confederate General Jubal Early invaded Union territory from north central Alabama into eastern Tennessee and reached Bristol on July 10th before being repulsed at Battle of Franklin on July 12th On October 14th 1861 General Robert Ewell surrendered Knoxville to Union forces at Battle of Bristoe Station after routing Confederate forces under Lieutenant Colonel William Hays over a two day period including three Battles of Bristoe Station Bridgefield Creek Valley Campaigns TheHardin County Courthouse building currently stands as one of few remaining examples from this time period in Hardin County Harrison Field Museum contains artifacts related to military life in the area during that time period as well as items from everyday life such as kitchen appliances
