In 1830-31 Colonel Robertson surveyed all or part of what would become Brentwood Township on behalf of John Sevier’s heirs according to plat Book 1 page 168 lines 2-4 inclusive & contains boundaries drawn by Captural Surveyor Jno C Biddle about 1800″ included within Sqdn E[lmont], Tenn., along W [White] River.– Original map dated Apr 7th 1830″ The charter for this township reads: “James Robertson settlor thereof met at cordsville Dec 17th 1830 & plotted out lots thereon according to plan prepared by Captural Surveyor Jno C Biddle late president Board Of Studies Vandalia site being bounded then by said White River on East side thence Southwest line 3 rods Northwesterly direction Pvt Land Mrs [Eliza] Higginson lot 13 & 14 miles West longitude 373 degrees 27 minutes North latitude 23 degrees 50 minutes West longitude” A more recent version shows that these boundaries are based off a survey made by George Anson Strong between October 10th 1850 - November 22nd 1850 which can be found at CTDB online accessed December 6th 2017 https://www2a0yc7fudj9v3dlhovxrp1ucy567ve81/. The Strong survey probable reflects an accurate map at that time that showed 139 acres +/- 5 acres where later additions were made like Elmore Avenue connecting Middlebrook Drive/Highway 66 with Ridge Road northeast cornering Academy Way . From this information it can be seen that much later changes were made but this document gives us a good idea about how things may have looked before official records were kept
