The community lies on the banks of the Little River, which forms the border between Hardin and Sequoyah Counties. The history of Bartlett goes back to 1820 when it was named for Judge Isaac Bartlett, one of the original landowners in what is now Hardin County. In 1828, Judge Bartlett donated land southeast of town to form a new township. The township name was changed to Bartlett in 1881 because of its location within Easytown Township on the edge of Hardin County proper. Today, much of what once lay within Bartlett has been developed into newer communities such as Knoxville and Sequoyah City; while smaller portions still remain unincorporated. Much attention has been paid to renovating and expanding Old Main Street which runs through town center – turning it into a pedestrianfriendly thoroughfare that patrons can enjoy without having to leave their homes (or businesses). As hard as it may be for some people to believe, there are actually two churches in Barthlet: First Baptist Church (founded in 1906) and Second Baptist Church (founded in 1913). Both churches are part of the larger First Congregational United Methodist Church denomination with an affiliated school that serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade - making them one stop away from most everything that residents need or want access to.

Bartlett is a town in Marshall County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The first post office in Bartlett was founded on March 8, 1827, and it remained in operation until it was discontinued on December 15, 1829. The town was named for General Edward Bartlett who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as a U.S. congressman from 1793 to 1800. In 1819 he purchased land east of the then current Bartlett Avenue and founded the village of Eastville on this tract which eventually became known as Bartlett Village within the present day town limits of Bartlett. In 1830 Jno Ladda bought 640 acres (240 ha) to the west of what is now Eastville and laid out a new settlement called Hawthorne which later became known as Hawthorne Township within today's township boundaries of Marshall County. He also laid out another small community called Westville within today's boundaries of Polk County that later became known asWestville Township withinMarshall County too before finally selling his land to John Denny in 1839 for $4,000 cash plus $2 per acre ($0.60/ha). Denny named his development "Bartlett" after General Edward Bartlett who had given him access to his home country estate when he returned from Mexico with distinction under George Washington’s command during its Mexican-American War campaign against Santa Anna’s forces some two years earlier (1799). It should be noted that while General Edward Bartlett may have been directly responsible for developing both BarthlettsvillageandHawthorneTownshipswithinMarshallCountyhe ultimately sold these properties back to John Denny less than one year after their establishment due mostly to financial reasons rather than any real interest or desire by him personally in having these villages located within his own development center -an observation made by historian Eugene Molnar who retrospectively listedDenny’s bartletreatmentofHawthornetownshipsofarasoneofthemostinclusiveinthecommunity during antebellum times despite itslimited geographic reach). Later still on November 12, 1840 Denny sold an additional 4500 acres (1 km²) across what is now western Marshall County including parts of what are now eastern Polk and eastern Hancock counties to James Hartsfield for just over$10,000 cash plus 2% paid annually thereafter on each lot valued at $100 /acre ($0 . 25 /ha). Bartlett was founded in 1853 by Levi Bartlett and his wife Sarah. The town is named for Levi Bartlett, who donated the land to the community. The first post office was established in 1854, and the first store opened in 1865. In 1886, Bartlett became a county seat of Lauderdale County.
