Bartlett is a town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1853 by James Bartlett and his wife Sarah. It was named for General John Bartlett, who fought in the Mexican–American War and received an award from President Abraham Lincoln. The first post office opened in Bartlett on November 12, 1853. In 1879, the town became a railroad center with the reopening of the Cumberland Railroad. By 1910, Bartlett had become one of the largest cities east of Memphis. The city annexed portions of neighboring towns in 1916 to form a new city limits area that included much of what is now downtown Bartlett. Today, downtown is home to many local businesses and cultural attractions such as galleries and art museums as well as its own school system which offers students opportunities for study outside the classroom setting. Interstate 40 passes through central Bartlett and provides access to most all aspects of life including shopping malls and other major metropolitan areas within driving distance; however, much of downtown has been preserved as part of the town's unique character which continues to draw people today despite large suburban encroachment into what once were rural farms minutes away from their homes

Bartlett was a small town in Franklin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 515 at the 2000 census. It is now a ghost town and it is currently being rebuilt as a ghost town museum. Bartlett was founded by John Bartlett in 1811 and since then has been an important community in the area. The first settlers in Bartlett were John and Nancy Bartlett who arrived in 1811. They were the parents of General James Hogg who fought in the American Revolution, also known as "the Patriot". After John and Nancy's death, their children took over the family business which became very successful. In 1824, they donated land to build a school which later became the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The original school building still stands today on Main Street across from UTKnoxville Stadium. In addition to its educational significance, Bartlett also played an important role during the early days of Knox County when many people lived there for work or study purposes including Daniel Boone, Memphis businessman Lamar Huntley and Nathan Bedford Forrest Jr.. In 1932-1933, Bartlett experienced some impressive flooding that left much damage including several destroyed homes and businesses along with loss of life both human and livestock alike. This event is widely considered to be one of the worst natural disasters ever to hit any city or village in America. Later on this same decade what would become known as Hurricane Hazel caused extensive damage to parts of Tennessee but did not reach Bartlett until October 15th when it made landfall near Tellico Plains approximately 20 miles east of Nashville after making landfall just south of Decatur Creek Bridge that crossed into Hardin County). As soon as it came ashore residents started coming out onto their rooftops to see if they could take pictures before they were swept away by floodwaters which quickly rose above them reaching speeds up to 14 mph!
