Bartlett is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by James W. Bartlett in 1868 and named for him. It grew rapidly during the early 20th century due to its location on the Cumberland River and its easy access to transportation. In 1915, Bartlett became one of the first towns in Tennessee to be annexed into Davidson County. In the 1970s, Bartlett experienced significant growth as a result of its role as a center for manufacturing and agriculture. Today, it remains an agricultural community with major employers including Tyson Foods Inc., Nissan Motor Company, FedEx Ground and Coca Cola Bottling Plant No. 1 (now Coke Zero).

By 1870, Bartlett had a population of 350 residents and had become an important agricultural center with a large dairy business. A cotton gin and other industrial equipment were built in1892 by J.M. Ladd & Sons Company, which continued to operate until 1938. The community declined during the Great Depression but regained some vitality through government support programs such as rural education, health care, and infrastructure development. In recent times, however, Bartlett has seen increasing suburbanization and economic decline due to changing demographics and competition from cities nearby.
Bartlett was founded in 1853 by General James W. Bartlett, a Tennessee native and Union army general who had fought at the Battle of Antietam and the Battle of Gettysburg. The town was named for Bartlett's father, John Bartlett. In 1865, Barthletts joined the Confederate States of America and briefly served as its governor. After the war, he returned to his home state and resumed ranching. He died in 1907.
