Bartlett, Tennessee is a small town in Johnson County, Tennessee. The population was 2,044 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in Bartlett was made on May 10, 1811 byalist John and Rebecca Bartlett. In 1814, the land that now includes Bartlett was purchased from the Musgrove family for $4,000. The first post office in Bartlett opened on December 12, 1816. In 1861, Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest located his headquarters near what is now Bartlett and ordered all White males between the ages of 21 and 30 to leave the area within four days or be killed. Of those who chose not to leave their homes or were too young or old to fight (many of whom were fathers with children), many were taken into custody and later executed by Forrest's forces. The town experienced some military action during World War II as it served as a bombing site for Peachtree Air Force Base during Operation Crossroads. However, most of today's residents are descendants of those who lived here before or after the war. As one resident put it, "There wasn't much here when we came; there are plenty of things here now." Bartlett has two churches - First Baptist Church and Antioch United Methodist Church - which remain active today despite being several decades old. Additionally, there are several businesses including IHOP restaurant and Hobby Lobby store which have been around since the early 1900s (the latter still open today). There also used to be a bar called The Saloon which closed in 2001 but reopened as an antique store in 2006 known as The Olde Hickory House Place until its closure again in 2013 due to lack of business interest; however this store remains open as an attraction under new ownership currently residing inside Heritage Hall Museum adjacent to Interstate 40 service road off exit 4A)

Bartlett is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Johnson City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by Andrew Bartlett in 1838 and named for him. In 1865, Bartlett's son-in-law John Crouch moved to Bartlett from Corinth after purchasing land there. He became one of the first residents of what would become Johnson City and helped found the city's first school in 1868. In 1873, Andrew Bartlett's grandson Luther bought some land east of town and built a farmstead called Elmwood which still stands today. From this site, he developed a pottery business which continues to operate to this day. In 1906, when Hardin County formed its own government, Barthletts voted to join it and their mayor at that time was Hemanus Waddell (1854-1921). In 1916 the community erected a frame courthouse which still stands today with courtroom space that can accommodate up to 100 individuals while also accommodating office use on three floors above ground level as well as an attached garage on an adjacent lot used primarily for storage purposes until recently; due to flooding in 2001/2002 much of these upper levels were lost but lower levels remain accessible throughaccessible entrances located near the street level The courthouse has been occasionally used as a movie set or for historical displays since its construction and is now used as a museum open daily 9am-4pm except for major holidays

Bartlett was founded in 1819 by John Bartlett and his wife Sally. The town was named after John Bartlett's older brother, James. In 1865, the town was named for General Andrew Johnson.
