Bartlett is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Murfreesboro–Davidson metropolitan area. The first person to settle in what is now Bartlett was James Waddell, who came there in 1819. He built a cabin on the banks of the Cumberland River and named it Waddell's Cabin after himself and his brother-in-law John Waddell. A post office was established at Bartlett in 1827, and remained in operation until 1907. The town was chartered on March 10, 1837 by General William Troup as "Barton." The name was changed to "Bartlett" on December 7, 1840 by order of Governor Worth Johnston. In 1861, Confederate General Jubal Early attack Union forces under Ulysses S. Grant near here whileaging for food supplies; he killed six soldiers and captured two others before withdrawing back across the river to Winchester, Kentucky. Many residents of Bartlett went into hiding during this time because they were afraid that their homes would be burned if they were caught up in the war effort. A store opened at Bartlett in 1865 by John Hines (owner of Hines' Antiques). A post office operated at Bartlett from 1865 until 1907; mail service began operating from Nashville on April 15th of that year. By 1880 however, only 8 houses remained standing in town; all but one had been destroyed by fire or tornado during the earlier years of its existence.. In 1886 an express train ran through town stopifying passenger traffic between Nashville and Memphis; however water damage caused most of the tracks to break down so passengers had to disembark at a local hotel where they could get back onboard again later that day In 1898 almost all business closed due to lack of customers followingperial Spanish War between Spain and Mexico which started aboard ship called Santa Anna arrived here on May 9th with over 4500 people also living here raising money for San Miguel de Allende Mexican National Monument $4000 raised This event made international news as it helped bring attention against imperialism . However small community continued functioning despite many challenges including high rates for postage stamps due to lack of infrastructure

He and his family were the first African American to reside in Hardin County when he and his wife Fanny moved from Georgia in 1820. In 1830, John Prentice built a cabin on the edge of present-day Bartlett. A post office called Bartlett was established in 1836, and remained operational until it was discontinued in 1907. Bartlett had one school district which operated from 1865 to 1875; however, due to financial troubles it closed its doors permanently that year. In 1946 the Hardin County Board of Education voted to merge with Shelby County Schools; however, this merger did not take place because of resistance by some residents of Bartlett who felt their community would be lost if they became part of a larger school system. Today there are no schools located within Barthlett; all students attend public schools outside of the town limits. The only businesses located within Barthlette are grocery stores and two churches which maintain their own businesses as well as providing services such as lawn care and groceries to their congregations during services each Sunday morning (the only time these services are available). Additionally there is an annual agricultural fair that takes place at county fairgrounds across from town on Easter weekend - although this event has been significantly scaled back since its inception over several years due to budget constraints.
Barton County was established in 1819. The county seat was at Nashville. In 1845, the legislature created a new county, Cumberland County, to administer the east Tennessee lands acquired from the Cherokee Nation in the Indian Removal Act of 1830.
