Airguns have been around for centuries and Rapid City, South Dakota is home to one of the oldest airgun clubs in the United States. The Rapid City Airgun Club was founded on July 1, 1895 by citizens of Rapid City and neighboring towns in what is now Juab County. The club met at a local hotel which still stands today and held shoots using rifles and shotguns. The first pistols were also shot at the club. In 1902, the club adopted its present name, the Rapid City Air Gun Club. In 1912, the club began using handguns for shooting matches. In 1922, pistol shooting was discontinued due to World War I restrictions on firearms ownership. Rifle shooting resumed in 1923 with handguns as the main weapon type used. In 1934, handgun shooting was again discontinued due to World War II restrictions on firearms ownership but rifle shootings continued until 1945 when handguns were once again resumed with rifle weapons as the main weapon type. TheRapidCityAirGunClub is still an active member-run organization today with over 350 members from throughout South Dakota who join together every year for target practice and education purposes including USPSA competition events as well as NRA events across South Dakota and beyond!

A few weeks ago, I was browsing through some old airguns forum posts and noticed an article about a gun that had been used in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. In this particular posting, it was mentioned that the gun was a Sten Gun. The article also mentioned that the weapon had been discovered in Dallas, Texas. I decided to Google Street View images of Dallas so that I could better understand what exactly happened there. The first thing that I noticed was how wide the street in Dallas is compared to other streets in the city. This made me think back to when JFK was assassinated and how wide open spaces were at this time (late 1960s). Secondly, I noticed how high up buildings were located in Dallas compared to other cities throughout America. This made me even more curious about why this specific gun had been used in such a heinous act. Finally, I took a look at police reports from aroundDallas during those days and saw that there were no arrests or investigations related to the Sten Gun incident until much later on! It seems as though something mysterious happened behind closed doors after JFK's assassination and we still don’t know what happened with this weapon or who fired it!
