In 1865, Union forces attacked Fort Sumter while Confederate General Robert Easley was attending a meeting at which he proposed arming black citizens within their own states in order to resist Reconstruction policies implemented by Ulysses S Grant's administration throughout America following the Civil War! This event resulted in more than 100 people being killed when Confederate troops opened fire on unarmed civilians inside Fort Sumter shortly thereafter! When Reconstruction ended following America's defeat in World War II, many African Americans who had remained loyal to slavery were emancipated or allowed amnesty under agreement made between President Harry Truman and Alabama Senator Edward Kennedy (D-Massachusetts). Many of these men decided not to return home after seeing all that had been done for them since they left behind difficult lives as slaves – one result was that there were relatively few African Americans living in Jacksonborough Township until around 1920 when descendants moved there from other parts of South Carolina looking for better opportunities due then increasing racism across southern United States towards black people!
