Sumter, South Carolina is a small town located in the southern section of the state of South Carolina. It is bordered by Pee Dee County to the north, Spartanburg County to the east, and Beaufort County to the south. The population of Sumter was 9,812 as of 2010. The town was founded in 1801 by Captain John Smith and his wife Ruth Parrish. At that time, it was part of Cherokee Nation. In 1827, when Charleston became an official city, Sumter became a part of Charleston County. The first store in town was built on Broadway in 1831. The first post office opened in 1832. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell ordered his forces into Sumter after they were defeated at Second Battle of Bull Run. Residents refused to surrender and were taken prisoner until President Abraham Lincoln's order for their release came through three days later. As a result of this event,Sumter has been one of the few towns throughout South Carolina not affected by Reconstruction efforts which took place from 1865-1877. After Reconstruction ended in 1877, Sumter began experiencing rapid growth due to its location within easy reachof new development and businesses beginning up around thetownsite limited resources allowed for during Reconstruction years such as education and housing programs that had been put into place specifically for black residents living within white areas near downtown Charleston while also providing some stability and security for those who remained following secession from United States on February 14th 1861 with plans to form their own government under Confederate control known as "Emancipation Proclamation". On January 12th 1907 a typhoon struck Sumter causing extensive damage including roofs off buildings; loss or destruction of many homes; displacement/exile (of more than 1/3rd [of] families]; loss or destruction estimated at $80,-$160,-$240 thousand dollars; total human losses amounting to about $4,-$8,-$10 million since 1900). Not only did these events cause significant physical damage but also destroyed much important cultural history making reconstruction very challenging especially given that there are no records whatsoever from prior attempts at reconstructing such events leading all former residents who still live here today back before forced migration started occurring during early 20th century which included mean forced moves (mostly women and children) across country plantations followed by years long separations followed by little recall or knowledge among descendants what happened during those dark times period many would say forever changed their lives forever...Many people today who have never lived through those difficult times still refer back to those dark days as if they could just step back into time itself! Sumters economy is based largely on agriculture with some aspects being related manufacturing and service industries including health care services catering both local restaurants and hospitals as well as major retailers like Home Depot et al.. The first expansion mount was the "PVC" type, which allowed the attachment of a second camera onto the top rail. This was followed by the "Ethernet" type, which allowed two external cameras to be attached directly to either side of the camera mount.
