When Spartanburg became the center of the United States during the 19th century, there was little transportation available to get goods and people to and from the city. So business owners started building wagon trains to bring goods upcountry. This process led to businesses taking on larger sizes and needing more space. One such business, The A&P Store, decided that they needed a bigger store than what they could fit in their current location. They started looking for ways to build a large new structure without having to demolish anything in their current location. One idea that came up was using an old mill building that had been abandoned for years. The mill owner agreed to lease them the building and allowed them to use it as a storeroom until they could come up with a plan of how they were going to use it. After some brainstorming, they decided that the building could be used as a warehouse for storing goods while they built their new store. The first floor of the mill would be dedicated as the storeroom while the second and third floors would be used for storage and office space. This plan worked out well for awhile but eventually proved too costly due in part because of all of the reconstruction work that hadto be done after Hurricane Katrina destroyed so many buildings in New Orleans following its storm striking Louisiana days earlier ( ). So Spartanburg's A&P Store turned their attention towards finding another way to build a large structure without modifying or demolition any existing structures in their area- this time, using an abandoned warehouse on Edgecombe Boulevard instead . After several months of searching, Spartanburg found an alleyway leading from Edgecombe Boulevard eastward into downtown which had been vacated by developers who were planning on creating condos development adjacent thereto . In order for SpartanburgIRCOMGOLD COASTERS LTD., owners of said alleyway (and thereby also owner of said derelict warehouse) - with permission from then-City Manager Tony Brown - began dismantling said derelict warehouse inside & outside & re-erecting same within limits provided no human remains or other evidence remained therein whatsoever notwithstanding reports aforesaid claiming otherwise- SpartansburghIRCOMGOLD COASTERS LTD., through Mayor Anthony Brown did so at 1:00am on November 16, 2017 pursuant thereto; [sic] thus becoming once again active & operationalsein side view/approaches edgecombe boulevard property Ownership being limited aforementioned does not preclude future partial or total demolition/reconstruction thereof should deemed necessary by City Manager upon review hereinof?

Spartanburg, South Carolina is a city in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 61,856 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Spartanburg County and the fifteenth-largest city in South Carolina. It is part of the greater Columbia metropolitan area. Spartanburg is home to SC State University and The Citadel, one of only two military academies in the United States with a full programming schedule for undergraduate students as well as their officers. The first white settlement in what is now Spartanburg County was established by Captain John Cushing on May 10, 1775 during the American Revolution when his company of militiamen attacked a British fortifications on Plantation Island (now Hilton Head Island). Aftermath of that battle led to this initial discovery because Captain Cushing could find no other place to set up camp due to Indian attacks on English settlements around Charleston Harbor. This unidentified island became known thereafter as "Cush's Island". captain Cushing's men built their first shelter there which still stands today - now called "Captain Cushing's Hut". In 1821 Colonel Thomas Jno Emerson moved 640 slaves from Georgetown plantations near Charleston under indenture to create a new plantation named "Emerson" northeast of Spartanburg. The name came from General James Emerson's order given to his troops at Fort Sumter: "Give no quarter." In 1826 Captain Hosea Smallwood purchased land east of town from Colonel Samuel Ashe for $1,000 and began receiving slaves from neighboring plantations for munitions production purposes until 1868 when he sold all but 2/3rds of his slaves out into interstate commerce so they could be auctioned off like livestock or used by planters as field workers rather than servants/workers themselves. By 1840 about 60% of Spartanburg County residents were slaveholders; however by 1800 most slaveholders had surrendered their slaves back into bondage within 5 years following emancipation efforts by Confederate forces during the Civil War

In 1906, Confederate General Robert Easley built his headquarters near what is now downtown Spartanburg and began preparations for his planned coup against Governor White. On July 4th, 1906, Easley's forces attacked local plantations and installations garrisoned by white soldiers loyal to Governor White, resulting in over 100 deaths and many injuries among both sides. A month later Easley surrendered unconditionally at Appomattox Court House after being offered safe passage home should he surrender without further bloodshed; however, he never returned to South Carolina due to concerns about retaliation from the Union government led by Abraham Lincoln
The Spartanburg area was first settled by Africans in the late 17th century. The area was part of English North Carolina until 1786, when it became a part of South Carolina. The area was originally called "New Hope" because of the large number of white settlers who came to the area during the Revolutionary War. In 1819, the United States Congress created Spartanburg County, South Carolina out of portions of Cherokee and Union counties.
