Rock Hill is a small town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 10,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first handguns in Rock Hill were pistols that were made by Smith and Wesson. These pistols were not very reliable and did not meet the needs of all shooters. In 1892, a man named Gideon Welles bought some shotguns from Mr. Fenton of Lexington, Kentucky and began to make his own guns with these same shotguns. He called these guns "Welles Guns." These firearms became very popular among 1911 shooters because they had an automatic firing feature that allowed you to fire one shot without having to reloading the gun. In 1914, Johnnie Barnes purchased a gunsmith shop in Rock Hill from Mr. Welles and began making his own firearms there as well as selling them through his store only to become known as "Johnnie's Gun Shop." This shop became very successful and helped to provide much needed competition for local dealers who had been selling older models of handguns for years before that! Johnnie's Gun Shop also started manufacturing their own ammunition which gave it a lot of popularity among 1911 shooters! In 1937, another man named Harry Aiken purchased a gunsmith shop from Johnnie's Gun Shop which he renamed "Aiken Firearms." At this point in time, Aiken Firearms was able to produce high quality handguns which competed favorably against local dealers! After many years of success at this business venture, Harry Aiken passed away in 1984 but left behind many legacy products including the production line that still makes handgun ammo today!

Rock Hill is a small town in South Carolina, located on the edge of the Greenville-Anderson County area. The population was 7,500 as of the 2000 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg metropolitan area and is served by the Rock Hill School District. The first settler in what is now Rock Hill was James Hinchcliffe, who arrived in 1795. He named his community after his farmstead at Rocky Mount in North Carolina. In 1827, Samuel Gregg settled here and built a sawmill on Big Creek. By 1830, there were two stores, several hundred residents and three mills; Gregg's store became the nucleus of what would become Rock Hill. In 1881, John Biddle built a cotton gin on Broad Street which became known as Biddle's Gin during this time period. The gin produced more than one million pounds of cotton per year for local merchants and planters until it closed in 1948 due to competition from other industrial sites around town. Rock Hill experienced significant growth following World War II when thousands of African Americans relocated to South Carolina from all over America to work in scores of new factories and businesses that sprang up in post-war America. Many African American veterans also chose Rock Hill as their new home because it had been spared damage or destruction caused by Japanese bombing raids during World War II; some even managed to repair or rebuild their homes here after they returned home from combat duty overseas. The postwar years also saw an increase in racial violence throughout much of South Carolina; however, rockHill remained largely safe with few reports of race-based violence through most of this period aside from one minor incident that occurred within the boundaries of town limits just before Christmas 1946 when a white man was shot at close range by black citizens while playing checkers outside a grocery store near downtown).
