In 1892, an ordinance was passed requiring all businesses within city limits to install candelabra-style light fixtures with red or green gunlightbulbs above each window. This ordinance was designed to add some safety measure against robbers who might try to steal goods from businesses while customers were away. The popularity of gunlights soon spread throughout South Carolina, and by 1915 they had become standard equipment on most Police cars across the state. Gun lights continue to be popular today in South Carolina because they are easy To use and can supplement other signals such as siren usage when needed

Port Royal, South Carolina is a small town located in the Charleston metropolitan area. The population was 7,898 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville Combined Statistical Area. The ZIP code for Port Royal is 29803. The town began to form around 1770 when members of the British military garrisoned at Fort Augusta on Beaufort Island decided to move their families and supplies inland to escape British patrols and raids. By 1815, Port Royal had a population of 1,200 people and was known as "the most important commercial center in South Carolina." In 1819, Thomas Jefferson recommended that Charleston be moved from its original location on Tryon Island to become the capital of West Virginia because it would be nearerto banks and markets and more easily accessible by wagon road. The city's relocation was approved by Congress but King George III vetoed the measure because he believed Charleston would become an English puppet state ruled by Prince George instead of American citizens. In 1835, Benjamin Harrison appointed David Waddell as governor of West Virginia after President Andrew Jackson vacated office due to illness. Waddell ordered construction of a new brick courthouse in downtown Charleston which became known as "Old Court House". In 1841, John Brown lead a raid into Charleston during what became known as the "Second Anglo-American War" in order to free slaves held at Fayetteville plantations near Wilmington, North Carolina. Brown's raid failed but demonstrated how effectively slave rebellions could be suppressed if done under public pressure. During World War II, Port Royal served as both an airfield for Confederate Air Force operations during World War I (a practice allowed only within then Confederate states) and also homeport for USS Enterprise (CVN 65) during World War II; Enterprise operated out of Naval Air Station Mayport until her decommissioning in 1956). In postwar years much development took place focused on attracting tourists such as boat tours through Hampton Roads National Seashore or hiking along parts Ofowhee River bordering Fort Sumter National Monument; however there has not been any major change brought about sincerest efforts were made Community Development Officer - Joe McCormick who spearheaded redevelopment program

Port Royal was founded in 1670 by John Smith, a captain in the English Royal Navy. It became an important seaport on the coast of South Carolina because it was the only place where shipping could be unloaded and loaded with goods before being transported downriver to New York City. The town continued to grow as a whaling and fishing center until the early 1800s, when cotton production began to become dominant in the region. At its peak, Port Royal boasted over 30smithy, 80 houses, and 1,500 people. However, during the 19th century economic decline led to increased military activity and social unrest in the town. In 1834, Confederate forces captured Port Royal after a three-month siege. The town again came under Union control during their Civil War campaign against CSS Crown Point (the Union army’s primary objective). Afterward, Port Royal declined rapidly due to loss of population and commerce. By 1870 it had only 5 houses left and no businesses remaining except for a few farming operations. In 1972 it was added to Charleston County as part of an annexation referendum approved by voters. Today, Port Virginia is an agricultural community with fewer than 10 residents; however, its history lives on through its many cultural attractions such as plantations dating back to 1712 that offer educational programs about slave life; Andalusian horses used for Riding; historical churches built between 1806-1835; orations by then Governor Atherton preserved from 1863-1867
Port Royal is located in the southeastern corner of South Carolina, and was founded by the English in 1624. The town became a center for slave trade after it became an important port for goods shipped from Africa to American colonists. In 1814, Confederate forces burned Port Royal during the Battle of Fort Sumter, which ended the war between the United States and Great Britain.
