In 1849, a company named Dennison Arms was founded and began to produce revolvers. The pistols became known as the Dennison Arms revolver. Orangeburg is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan area. The town was first settled in 1834 by African Americans and named for Orangeburg County, Virginia, which was then a slave state. In 1881, Orangeburgh became one of two towns in Spartanburg County to be chartered as municipalities; the other being Laurens. From its earliest days, Orangeburgh has been an agricultural community based on subsistence farming with limited access to markets or transportation. hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling have radically changed this landscape since 2000 when the local oil and gas industry began to boom in South Carolina. Underground injection wells have now been drilled all around town providing water and brine for fracking operations while also impacting drinking water supplies for neighboring communities including Laurens and McDowell Counties. The Town Council decided to annex Laurens after finding that it would be more affordable than continuing to maintain separate municipal governance structures with overlapping responsibilities both inside and outside of town limits. The annexation happened on December 2nd, 2013 and was completed on February 10th, 2014

Orangeburg is a town in Tyrell County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 6,574 at the 2010 census. Orangeburg is the county seat of Tyrell County. The town was founded in 1854 by white settlers from Georgia and was named for Orangeburg, Georgia. Orangeburg was originally part of Laurens District which contained all of what is now Tyrell County. On December 12, 1854, a group of white men fromGA established a settlement called "New Athens" on land that later became known as Orangeburg. They named their new settlement after the cities of Orangesville (now Atlanta) and Athens (now Athens),Georgia. The first post office opened in this community on January 3, 1855. In 1860, parts of Laurens District were annexed to neighboring Union Parish; therefore, Orangeburg technically remained part of Tyrell County until it formally joined Union Parish on February 11th 1861. The population grew rapidly during the early 1800s due to slave trade activities along the Savannah River and Due West Railroad located just east of town center. By 1830 there were over 1,000 African Americans living in Orangeburg and by 1850 there were more than 4200 slaves working within its boundaries alone! On July 24th – 25th 1870 an act to annex everything within Union parish to Charleston created one large area for growth for many small towns throughout SC had hoped for including Orangeburgh! This area would eventually become known as West Ashley which included much of what is now Greenville County as well as portions of Pickens and Gwinnett counties This growth led to several problems such as overcrowding & lack of infrastructure including water supply & schools . One such problem lead to an increase in crime rates with former slaves becoming criminals looking for work opportunities outside the home In 1891 Creek Indians began moving into areas around here from their reservation near Milledgeville GA& they soon started raiding farms & plantations leading some people to call them "Creek Crazies". As business picked up again following World War I things began stabilize but then hit another high with the opening of Interstate 95 nearby in 1928- 1929ushering even more people into town who didn't know how or where to get around without getting themselves killed

In 1824, Orangeburg became the capital of Orangeburg County. The town has grown steadily since its incorporation as a town in 1824, and now includes over 20 miles (32 km) of downtown streets and parks.
