He also served as president of both the United States Basketball Association (USBA) and Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Majerus currently lives in Orangeburg with his wife Dee Dee Selvin Majerus who also played collegiately at Clemson University before becoming a business executive.

Orangeburg, South Carolina is a small town located in the foothills of Appalachian Mountains. The town was founded in 1837 by Englishmen who were driving out Native Americans. The town was originally called "Newmarket," but its name was changed to Orangeburg after President George Washington's visit to the area in 1795. The first settlers to Orangeburg were white men who had driven out Cherokee Indians. In 1837, the first African American residents of Orangeburg arrived when John Fenton bought land from a group of Cherokees. Fenton built a cabin and named it "Fenton's Grove." In 1840, Judge James Hogg purchased land in Orangeburg from Mr. Fenton. He built a frame courthouse and named it "Hogg's Courthouse." In 1846, General Nathaniel Banks occupied Blue Ridge County during the Mexican-American War and ordered all black people living west of the Allegheny Mountains must leave or be deported. Many black people took advantage of this order and left their homes for southern states such as Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Some blacks also moved into Whitehall Township which was east of Orangeburg on what is now Mt Hope Cemetery Road
Orangeburg is a town in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 9,562 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in Orangeburg County and one of its most populous municipalities. It lies on the banks of the Ashley River and is part of the Charleston metropolitan area. The first permanent white settlers arrived in what is now Orangeburg County in 1819. By 1828, all but two homes in present-day Orangeburg had been built. The county seat was established at Orangeburgh until 1868 when it was moved to Sumterville because of periodic flooding that destroyed many small villages along the Ashley River. In 1860, Confederate General Robert Ewell's army advanced through Orangeburgh on their way from Suffolk to Petersburg; they were met by Union General Prentiss at an intersection near present-day Summerdale with orders to retreat if encountered by Confederate forces numbering more than 10,000 men under Colonel John Cushing (4th U S Infantry Regiment). Confederate Lieutenant Colonel George Aiken (5th U S Infantry Regiment) ordered his troopers not to fire unless ordered to do so by their colonel – which they did not do. After battle began Ewell withdrew his force back into Suffolk without further engagement; however, Confederate Brigadier General Alexander Hundley later claimed that "the whole brigade fired upon our enemies." On November 3rd 1861 during a general election campaign for office of judge of Probate and Chancery for York County Judge Jno Fenton, who served concurrent with William Troup as representative from Augusta District No 2 on the South Carolina State Senate he ran against James Buchanan Sr., son of President Abraham Lincoln. He polled 1% or less against Buchanan while running as an independent candidate Neither candidate received any electoral votes from South Carolina except those cast for Mr Lincoln who won Illinois via electoral vote and Mr Fenton who lostYork due to no vote being cast from York District No 2
