Smith began manufacturing cannons and pistols in North Myrtle Beach. In 1907, the town's first shotgun factory was opened by Wm. Henshaw & Sons. The following year, the town’s second shotgun factory was opened by Jno. Aiken & Son. At that time, North Myrtle Beach had more than one industry operating successfully within its boundaries- shotguns being just one of them! In 1934, the manufacture of firearms stopped due to World War II and guns production reverted to older methods such as handguns only until 1949 when a new shotgun manufacturing plant was opened by Wm Henshaw & Sons once again! That same year saw the opening of the first ever rifle range in South Carolina at Fort Bragg which has continued operation to this day! North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a city in and the county seat of Beaufort County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,829 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the Beaufort River and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Climate Classification Cwa). The first Europeans to visit North Myrtle Beach were French Conchologists in 1619 who named it "Bouillonville". North Myrtle Beach became a U.S. Naval base during World War II due to its strategic location as an anchorage for ships transporting military supplies to amphibious assaults against Japan. Beaufort County was created in 1821 from part of Cherokee County and named for General James H. Beaufort who had been wounded at Battle of Bunker Hill in 1814. The original town site was near present-day downtown NMB, but because of the rough terrain and lack of water resources, development did not take place until after the war when new dredging techniques allowed for waves of immigrants to settle in what is now north central NMB directly onshore (the current downtown area was laid out over much earlier land)). In 1865, citizens voted to change their name from Cherokee County Bankruptcy Court District 2 (now district 3) to Beaufort County Circuit Court District 2 because they felt that “Beaufort” sounded more like their home state – Virginia than Georgia which they considered their natural territory. In 1907, federal government bought all or parts of four localities including NMB: Saluda Landing at modern day Camden; Beattie Island; Mount Pleasant; Allendale Plantation; East Cape May Ferry Landing Isle Noire) with an intent to create an artificial island off Charleston Harbor that would act as both a naval station and port for goods coming into Charleston Harbor from points southward via Cape Fear River Valley Railroad Company steamboats operated by Confederate forces during the American Civil War. This project never took form however because after World War I docks were built at Pier 8 on False Creek just east side of SCARBOROUGH harboreele making it easier for vessels larger than schooners/canoes ashore without having to navigate through hazardous tidal waters around cape Fear river valley For most recreational boating within Charleston Harbor - swimming schools still use Point Lookout today while Navy warships moored there have been converted into floating barracks used by Marines during peacetime exercises - so this plan never really got off the ground! In 1951 North Myrtle Beach voters passed a resolution stating that they desired incorporation into neighboring Georgetown City limits which occurred two years later on December 12th following an referendum held by then Mayor Arlen Gentry with 98% turnout among all participating residences within city limits voting yes under his leadership becoming one municipality within city limits once again! At this time Georgetown City Limits extended northwestward beyond present day Downtown NMB boundaries including much older areas such as Mount Pleasant Cemetery & Industrial Park where people continue burial services today despite being annexation claimed by newer portions of town like Polo Grounds Shopping Center & Dockyards redevelopment area since then! Today North Myrtle Beach continues its journey towards becoming one municipality once again with plans underway for annexation along with plans announced recently by Mayor Keith Smithwick himself - annexing many old areas currently zoned Residential & Light Manufacturing along WITH MUCH OF THE INDOOR AREA NOW Zoned Commercial Recreational boating will be possible WITHOUT Wading through Hazardous tidal water anywhere near Point Lookout while Navy warships moored there have been converted into floating barracks used by Marines during peacetime exercises creating even more opportunities for recreation inside this vibrant community located next door to Historic Downtown Charleston

However, during the 20th century, North Myrtle Beach experienced significant decline and declined from its early prominence as a commercial center to an economy that is today characterized largely by tourism.
