Gun targets has a long and varied history in North Charleston, South Carolina. The first target was made of wood and used to shoot arrows at an early date. By 1800, the use of guns had spread throughout the community and a shooting range was opened. In 1822, a post office was established in North Charleston, which led to increased gun traffic in the community. There were also several saloons that catered to gun enthusiasts in the area. In 1902, a new armory was built in North Charleston as part of the Works Progress Administration project. This armory became known as “The Arsenal” because it housed many cannons and weapons from across America. It is also where local Confederate veteran General Thomas Jepson shot his final volley before surrendering on April 9th 1865 at Appomattox Court House. Gun Targets has been operating since 1903 and continues to serve as one of the most popular tourist destinations for Gun enthusiasts in South Carolina today!

North Charleston is a census-designated place in Charleston County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 30,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charleston metropolitan area. North Charleston is located on the Ashley River, bordered by Hampton to the south and east and Myrtle Beach to the north. The name "NorthCharleston" was chosen for its location on Ashley River which flowed through what was then Cherokee Nation territory before it became part of South Carolina. The community was founded as a post office in 1853 by James Denton and named after North Carolina's largest city, Charlotte. In 1886, a railroad line was built through town from Columbia to Greenville and new businesses were established along the way including an insurance company and bleach plant. By 1900, North Charleston had become one of South Carolina's most important industrial centers with heavy manufacturing such as shoes, autos, ammunition and bourbon products being produced. In 1925 the first golf course in town opened under assumed name of "The Highlands". During World War II many munitions factories were set up in North Charleston including three that produced mustard gas: Kollsman Chemical Company (now Dow Chemical Co.), Beecham Rubber Company and Allied Signal Corporation (now Alcatel-Lucent). After hostilities ended some plants closed while others evolved into major companies like Boeing Aeronautics Industries Inc., Lockheed Martin Skunk Works Division (later Lockheed Martin), Southern Broadcasting System (later WSB) and United States Steel Corporation among others during this time period known as "The Postwar Era". With technology advancements came changes to how industries functioned with more public sector employment leading to decline of private industry jobs throughout much of 1990s until 2000 when there began a resurgence with new economic growth resulting in increased job opportunities for locals due to innovative government policies encouraging investment within local communities across various sectors such as green energy development; health care services; transportation infrastructure improvements; high-tech startups etcetera
