North Augusta is a city in Richland County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 829 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1876 as part of the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area and became a major market for cotton until the 1970s. It is now a bedroom community for Columbia and Charleston. North Augusta is located on US 98 south of Interstate 95 and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Climate Classification: Cfa). The earliest known inhabitants of what is now North Augusta were Native Americans who lived along the Savannah River before moving to what is now Richland County about three hundred years ago. When white men arrived in this area in 1821, they began to build settlements which soon grew into towns. One such town was Gastonia, which was chartered by General James Stanfield on January 6, 1825. A second town called North Augusta was chartered on February 3, 1827 by Colleton Yeates. On January 9th of that year, Gastonia merged with North Augusta and became one municipality with a total population of eighty-six people In 1830, two additional towns were chartered within Richland County – Springdale and Saluda – both of which would later merge into Albermarle Township when that township formed from parts of York County in 1865. In 1876, Atlanta moved its corporate headquarters from Milledgeville to nearby Alpharetta as part of an effort to consolidate all businesses under one roof following the Panic of 1893. At the time, it was considered an innovative move since business leaders had realized that having one location where goods could be bought and sold made marketing easier than trying to sell products from many different locations simultaneously For most of the nineteenth century there wasn’t much development taking place within the limits currently defined by North Augusta because transportation bottlenecked everything else untilroads existed only between Cumming/Gastonia/Richmond counties or between Norfolk/Spokane (Washington) county lines . However during prohibition times things changed as bootlegging became rampant throughout surrounding counties due to lack of available law enforcement resources elsewhere The first sign that something big was happening came when local businessman John Marshall donated land near his home on Tryon Street for a streetcar line connecting downtownAtlanta with rural areas eastward This venture led eventually to Marshall being tried for bribery after winning an election against incumbent mayor William Hinson

North Augusta is a town in York County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Myrtle Beach–New Bern–Winston-Salem Combined Statistical Area. North Augusta is known for its beaches and golf courses, as well as its historical significance as one of the earliest planned communities in South Carolina. The first permanent settler in what would become North Augusta was Capt. John Chilton who arrived in 1798 with his family from Connecticut. He built a landing on the ocean by means of a causeway which he named "Chilton's Point." In 1814 Wm. Halsey took possession of the present site of North Augusta and began to build Fort Sumter. On December 12, 1814 Captain Halsey reached this point with his flagship HMS _Majestic_. He anchored off shore and disembarked his men to take possession of land upon which they erected small buildings for their temporary home until they could erect larger ones on more suitable territory farther down river; meantime, under cover of night they burned these dwellings and conducted themselves peaceably within their own limits without interference from any person or authority save that exercised by themselves alone; this event has been called "thefounding of North Augusta". In 1830 Capt James Aiken purchased some land east of Fort Sumter from Colonel Thomas Moultrie for $1,000 cash and founded Aiken's Mill on what would become Aiken's Beach Boulevard today. According to local legend Major John Warner bought Aiken'sMill after it had been destroyed by fire in 1834 but no record exists to support this claim either during or after his lifetime. In 1860 Rev Jno Blyth came to America with his wife Anna Blyth (née Beattie), daughter of Robert Beattie who had come over with American Revolutionary forces during the Revolution). They settled near where they now stand on Palmetto Bayou near where US 21 crosses it just outside town limits today while Anna taught school in nearby Uniontown until her death in 1865 at age 25 years old (she had married Rev Blyth when she was 11 years old). She is buried there alongside him next to her father’s remains still wearing her wedding dress from that day many years ago! In 1870 Rev young added “A” to his name & started trading post office services out here! Reverend Young also did alotof building up here starting w/church 2 raise money w/a bake sale back then too!
The first Europeans to arrive in South Carolina were the British in 1670. The area that is now North Augusta was settled by planters who came from theBritish Isles. The town of Augusta was platted in 1774, and became a stop on the Underground Railroad.
