In 1851, John Hargrave founded Winchester Repeating Arms Company with his brother Edward Hargrave to produce Rifle Bullets, Cannon Balls, Shotgun Shells and Pistol Ballistics Data Book (PBD). By 1861, Winchester had become world's leading producer of firearms ammunition with operations located around the world. In 1865, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company to form American Rifle Company (ARC). ARC produced Shotgun shells until 1932 when it became a subsidiary of Browning Manufacturing Company Incorporated (BMC)

North Augusta, South Carolina is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Spartanburg County. North Augusta is part of the Columbia metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become North Augusta was James Pogue in 1795. He and his brother-in-law Thomas Broughton were the second group to purchase land from David Worth and others near present day Greenville. In 1802 Pogue erected a log cabin on what would become known as North Main Street. In 1834 John Cagle purchased 3/4 acre (1 ha) of land east of present day downtown and began to build a house which became known as "Cagle's Hill". In 1835 he married 21 year old Mary Gadsden and built her new home on their property which they named after their families' ancestral home in Scotland, Gadsden Castle. Pioneering Methodist minister Samuel Sibley preached his first sermon in October 1840 at Gadsden Castle and called for Methodists to move westward into this newly organized Texas Territory where there was lots of open land available for them to settle. On December 5th 1840 Sibley baptized twelve young men who traveled with him from neighboring counties: Alpheus Shaw (Biloxi), John Cagle (Greenville), Jesse Moss (Anderson), Enoch Pratt (Athens), Michael Finsterwald (Beach Haven), Emanuel Kohlmeyer (Fayetteville), Nicholas Bemis (Newberry). Reverend Sibley journeyed by wagon train from Beale Street Station north through Cherokee Nation lands south past Cape Disappointment before continuing northwest on Umatilla Trail over the Great Dismal Swamp Bridge into Georgia about ninety miles southeast of Savannah River junction just south of modern Columbia, SC! A crowd estimated at 10,000 people had gathered at Fort Moultrie when Reverend Sibley arrived with his wagon train seeking passage across Indian Land headed for Savannah but were turned back by an angry chief!. With roads not yet been laid out or trails well traveled by white settlers it took some time before goods could be transported easily enough so that schoolteachers could reach these new settlements west of the mountains so that crude schools were started up early as early as 1850 including one under Reverend Elijah Hicks located on US Highway 1 just outside today's city limits! One can still see remnants today including extant building foundations along US Highway 1 northeast edge off NC road 103 just inside City Limits

North Augusta is a town located in Richland County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. North Augusta is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan area. The town has two public high schools and four private high schools. The history of North Augusta dates back to 1787 when George Washington founded the first permanent white settlement in this area. In 1827, North Augusta became a county seat and remained so until 1881 when it was moved to Spartanburg for administrative purposes only. The name "North Augusta" originated from its location on the north side of Ashe Creek which emptied into Charleston Harbor on three sides. During Reconstruction in south Carolina after the Civil War, many African Americans were relocated to this area as freedmen following the Emancipation Proclamation. This influx created tension between African Americans and white residents because many people felt they had not been given their due in post-war America. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Easley surrendered at Appomattox Court House which led to open hostilities between the races in this newly formed country. Many black men and women who had fought for Confederate forces were arrested or killed after surrendering without trial or parole while others managed to flee before capture or execution took place; these individuals are known as "Appomattox Citizens". In 1871, North Augusta annexed what is now unincorporated Spencer County as part of its municipal boundaries; since then there have been no changes to municipal boundaries within Richland County which results in an almost continuous history of one municipality governing all other municipalities within that county save for annexation/migration events (see Spencer County). As recently as 1910 there were only 2 school districts: one PUBLIC and one PRIVATE with 4 students each grade level combined (the number has grown slightly over time). Today there are 10 public/private high schools with a total student population of 382 across 8 grades levels combined (the number has also grown slightly over time). As reported by US News & World Report's "Best High Schools 2006" publication: "There are some excellent public academies here such as Butler College Prep School District No 4 and Clemson University’s Dormitory School." These well respected institutions offer rigorous academic programs that prepare students for collegelevel work; furthermore, these institutions often attract top talent from around the world due to their highly selective admissions process which emphasizes excellence both academically and professionally speaking among their students . ragtime music first came to North Augusta during prohibition days where danceshows could be held outdoors along Ashe creek just outside our town limits
In 1814, North Augusta was founded as a small town by brothers George and Jacob Haslett. The town grew rapidly in the early 1800s as families from nearby Savannah moved to the area to work on plantations. By 1840, North Augusta had a population of around 100 people. In 1851, the town was renamed for General Antonio Johnston, who died in battle at Appomattox Court House. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in the late 1800s when it had a population of over 1,500 people. However, during the 20th century growth slowed and by 2010 there were only about 350 people living in North Augusta.
