Mount Pleasant is a mix of African American and white residents. The white residents are mostly farmers who live on their land or within a few miles of the town center. The African American residents are mainly from the surrounding towns and cities, which have large black populations. Mountpleasant has been around since 1775 when British soldiers burned down what is now known as "Old Mount Pleasant" to clear land for new settlement. When Congress passed the Act for Establishing a State in 1783, it named Mount Pleasant "the Seat of Government." By 1800, there were only 50 people living in Mountpleasant; however, by 1820 there were 1,000 people living there. In 1825, Reverend James Meeks established Baptist church in Mount Pleasant with $5 donation from his brother-in-law John Gaddis Sr.. Meeks served as pastor until his death in 1845. After Meeks' death, Revd John Hogue served as pastor until his death in 1854. During this time period, many churches were established throughout Richland and Pender counties including Methodist Episcopal Church (1834), Presbyterian Church (1840), African Methodist Episcopal Zion (1899), United Brethren Church (1912) and First Baptist Church (1916). There was also an agricultural community that developed nearMount pleasant during this time period called Red Clay Bottom which had 10 slave households working on 100 acres of cotton plantations out sideof town while people lived inside the limits set forth by law - they could not own slaves but could work off their passage to America at no cost to themselves The first school opened up in Mountpleasant on November 3rd 1870 by Drs David Easley and Cephas Woodruff under instruction from Miss Lydia Wright attended by 8 students That same year saw construction begin on what would become stores building that still stand today along with 4 homes which housed teachers/owners Mrs Sally Gaddis family Mr Wm Stephenson family Mrs Eliza Stephenson family member Mr Wm Kingman all three families head started farming together then taught themselves how to farm with some help from their mothers

Mount Pleasant is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Mount Pleasant post office was established in 1784 and discontinued operations in 1865. The first European to visit Mount Pleasant may have been George Washington who took possession of some land around present-day Mount Pleasant on October 25, 1785 for his military campaign against the Cherokee Indians. Washington's stay was brief as he soon vacated the area after concluding that it would be too dangerous for him to live there permanently with their hostile chiefs living nearby. In 1802, Captain Edward Alexander Johnston founded a post office at Mountain Grove (now Mount Pleasant) with the name "Pleasant" because of its peaceful and secluded location near Indian Town on the mountain ridge separating Spartanburg County from Person County. In 1804, Johnston's post office moved back to Mountain Grove and continued operation until it closed in 1865 due to lack of mail service between Spartanburg and Mountain Grove. Georgia General Andrew Jackson arrived at Savannah on November 15, 1813 en route to Alabama where he was going to lead an army against Mexico under Ulysses S Grant during the War of 1812. On December 12th whileJackson was at Mount Sterling plantation near Savannah he heard about American victories over Mexican forces at Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma and decided mountpleasant would make a good winter encampment for his cavalry troops before moving them southward intoMexico during springtime when those areas were still snow-covered. Additionally, if you take a walk through any one of these buildings you will find Memorabilia from various events such as the Gadsden Parish Courthouse fire which happened in 1901 or America’s First Thanksgiving Day meal served at Gadsden Parish Courthouse! Lastly, I think it is important for people to understand just how intertwined our community’s history really is – whether we are aware of it or not!
Mount Pleasant is a town in Richland County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern border of Columbia and is bordered by Mount Pleasant to the south and west, West Columbia to the north and east, Sumter to the northwest, andleton to the northeast. The first settler in Mount Pleasant was John Crouch in 1794. The town site was purchased from David Simons in 1806. A post office was established here in 1814, and remained open until 1865. In 1846 an act of Congress approved the creation of a county government for Richland County which included Mount Pleasant. The first courthouse was built here in 1848; it burned down in 1861. A schoolhouse stood on what is now Main Street near present day Mt Pleasant High School between 1840-1850 before it moved across what is now White Hall Road to its current location next door to Quaker Oats during Reconstruction (1868-1871). In 1870–71 a new school house replaced this one on Summit Avenue near present daysummit Elementary School when that building became too large for the students attending Richland Academy School on Main Street which had been erected around that time as part ofRichland Female Seminary Extension project (now known as Clemson University's Davenport Campus). In 1907 "The Saturday Evening Post" reported that "Mount Pleasant has long been noted for its excellent apples", adding that ""the sweetest apples are grown hereabouts"" In 1918 Jens Olsen published his book about his family's experiences growing apples at Mountpleasant Place where he spent many years picking trees with his father starting back in 1916 . After World War II apple production increased due both to Japan's entry into World War II and American demand becauseSilk Roads had closed their markets following THE WAR while other agricultural products continued to grow successfully
