Mr. Carver became known for his crops and livestock products which were sold throughout South Carolina. In 1840, Reverend Jacob Bickford founded Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mountpleasant. Reverend Bickford served as pastor until his death in 1865. During Reverend Bickford's time, Mt pleasant had its first schoolhouse which was constructed on the corner of Beech & Cedar Streets. During Reconstruction (1865-1877), many African Americans left Mountpleasant for lack of work opportunities or because they didn't feel welcome in white society after the American Civil War ended. This exodus caused significant social upheaval within the black community during this time period; some residents continued to live in their original homes while others relocated to larger towns and cities across South Carolina. The post-war years were more prosperous for most black families living within miles of Charleston due to new economic opportunities opened up by Reconstruction legislation that granted voting rights to blacks who met certain qualifications including education and property ownership). However, some residents did leave Mt pleasant due to political turmoil or economic hardship; these departures destroyed much of what had been accomplished during Reconstruction and eventually led to increased tensions between races throughout South Carolina . In 1971 voters passed an ordinance designating Mount Pleasant as a historical district; this designation helped keep aspects of local history alive while also protecting against any future reclamation projects that could impact nearby properties . Since 2001 efforts have been made by several groups including Friends of Mtpleasant Historic District Inc., LLC (FOMD) to maintain all aspects of both physical AND cultural resources within it; this includes making regular inspections OF THE DISTRICT'S MANAGEMENT TO ENSURE THAT ALL ACTIVITIES ARE IN CONFORMITY WITH THESE STANDARDS

Mount Pleasant is a small town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. It was founded by white settlers in 1827 as a settlement on the east bank of the Cooper River. The town was named for General James Mount Pleasant, who had been killed at Battle of Kings Mountain in 1815. The Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Cemetery are located in the town. The first white settlers to arrive in Mount Pleasant were Ebenezer Greene and his family, who arrived on October 15, 1827. The community grew rapidly due to its location and access to water resources. By 1830, there were 230 people living in Mountpleasant. In 1834, the legislature designated Mount Pleasant an incorporated municipality with a population of 100 individuals. The town's growth continued through the years and by 1840 it had reached 400 residents. However, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), Mountpleasant chose not to support either side and remained neutrality. Because of this decision, members of the community were persecuted by Union forces throughout the war. Many residents fled or were driven out of their homes during the war; however, most eventually returned to live in mountpleasant after hostilities ended. It is estimated that between 1860 and 1870 approximately 2,000 black Americans moved into Spartanburg County as part of Reconstruction efforts following America's Emancipation Proclamation; many worked as laborers or mechanics on farms near Mt pleasanttown In 1865 local farmers decided to move their entire crop from where they usually stored it into barns outside of town because Confederate troops had burned all nearby farms along with other villages during what is known as "Operation Crossroads". In order for food storage purposes only about 120 bushels worth was taken but this resulted in extensive damage being done to buildings inside and outside of town which would have required extensive repairs if not for some citizens coming up with idea to build a newean barn which could store 500 bushels without any problems . This project became known as "Mount Pleasant Barn" after that point
Mount Pleasant was founded in 1785 by Revolutionary War veteran James Post. The town grew rapidly during the antebellum period and by 1825 it had a population of 1,500. It became an important center for cotton production and prostitution during the late 19th century. Mount Pleasant experienced a steady decline following the end of slavery in 1865, but has since revitalized itself as a small-town community.
