Gun barrels have been a part of Lexington, South Carolina for centuries. The first gun barrel in the town was made by Nicholas DeGraven in 1771. There were also early cannons that used gun barrels as projectiles. In 1826, the legislature passed a law that required all new shotguns to be equipped with ballista bolts, which allowed guns to be shot at long distances using arrows or other projectiles instead of traditional shotshells. Ballistae became an integral part of artillery and military arsenals across America during the 19th century. In 1892, Confederates stationed in Lexington began using muzzleloading rifles and pistols for self-defense against Union troops. A large number of these firearms were confiscated by Union forces after the war ended, but some remained in use until around 1923. At this time, ballistics research had progressed sufficiently to make new types of ammunition available for muzzleloaders and pistol guns, such as buckshot and birdshot. These new rounds caused extensive damage to Confederate munitions stockpiles and caused significant financial losses for the Confederacy. During Reconstruction years (1865-1877), many Confederate veterans returned home and took up arms against their former masters; this led to increased demand for newly manufactured firearms among these veteran criminals and gangsters throughout America. In 1924, Congress passed a bill allowing Americans aged 25 or older who owned handguns to purchase training permits from state police agencies in order to learn how to use them safely without getting into trouble. This measure was designed as a way for people like prohibitionist Mayor Tom Lawlor (D) of Lexington not only to defend themselves from crime but also teach safe handgun handling techniques to potential victims/ assailants/victims’ families living nearby on North Main Street where Lawlor skateboarded every day – providing valuable public safety information about how not even legal handguns could stop mass shootings like those committed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut on December 14th 2012! The history of Lexington goes back to 1775 when Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene moved his headquarters from nearby Yorktown to Lexington after victory over British forces at Saratoga National Battlefield. In 1820, John Fayette purchased land in what is now downtown Lexington from Colonel James Wellman for $5 per acre (0.24 km²). Today, many businesses and residences are associated with Fayette’s purchase including The John Fayette House Museum and Monument which are open every day except Monday since it was used as a jail during Reconstruction. In 1825, Captain Robert Ewell founded an agricultural colony on Catawba Island just off shore from present-day downtown Lexington. He called his settlement “Ewell” after himself and developed a farm that tomato production remains one of the most successful enterprises in town’s history today. AfterCaptain Ewell died in 1830, his son William took over management of “Ewell” until 1840 when he sold it to Thomas Sprigg who renamed it “Sprigg” after himself. Sprigg continued managing the property until 1849 when he sold it again to Moses Hargrave who named it “Hargrave” after himself In 1865, Captain Edward Everett introduced cotton gin technology into this area by having a large cotton gin built oncatawba island for processing local cottonseed crops In 1886-1887, Drury McMillan operated an ambulance service out OFFROAD with three ambulances that transported patients across county lines In 1895-1901 Drury McMillan constructed two new churches – first being Trinity Episcopal Church which replaced an earlier church destroyed by fire in 1892; then Elmira United Methodist Churchwhich became famous for its pipe organ although this building still stands today and seats 350 people . These two churches were among many that Drury McMillan erected throughout southeastern SC during this time period along with several schools including Grinnell Female Seminary (later Grinnell College), Morehead Male Seminary (later Morehead State University), Presbyterian Reformed School (now Clemson University), First Baptist Church (later First Baptist Chapel) and Morningside Presbyterian Church . In 1898, when South Carolina seceded from the United States, Lexington became part of Confederate South Carolina and participated in its military campaigns against Union forces. After reuniting with the United States in 1912, Lexington reverted to its original name: Lexington County (although it still uses "South Carolina" as its official name). In 1930, local businessman James Fenton bought 6% of what would become Coca-Cola Company's shareholding in Columbia; he then donated it to the city for use as a public park which still remains today. Coca-Cola began brewing here in 1911; since then it has been produced at two plants – one on Catawba Avenue near downtown and one on Mill Creek Boulevard near Pee Dee Lake Park – with an estimated 1 billion gallons sold each year.
In 1817, Lexington, South Carolina was founded as a slave town. It became an important center of the Underground Railroad, helping fugitive slaves escape to freedom. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Lexington was finally seized by Confederate forces and renamed Fort Sumter.
