In 1876 it was renamed Main Street after Ulysses S Grant who served as President from 1865 to 1869 and main street ran from Center Street east to US 23 south until it crossed US 23 west at Academy Boulevard before turning northwest back to Center Street again near West Park Place where it met US 123 northeast of town center
