These events included the first public meeting by a group of Englishmen who called themselves The Mounted Men (later known as The Ku Klux Klan). And because it was situated so close to plantations and government buildings,Hanahan also played host to various political meetings and trials which gave residents access to important information orWitnessing these events helped form some of Hanahan's later political values and traditions. Today, little remains atHanahon except for a few Ruins dotting its landscape; however those Ruins date back over 350 years ago when this small town thrived on trade with surrounding plantations
