Greer is a small town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Spartanburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to settle in Greer were white settlers from North Carolina who arrived in 1820. They built a log cabin on the banks of the Oconee River and named it "Bryant." In 1830, James Bryant purchased the cabin and renamed it "Greer." He and his family lived there until 1865, when he died. His wife Dora stayed until her death in 1904. Their children took over running the farm until 1930. In 1870, John Siltzer settled in Greer with his family. He built a house on Main Street which still stands today. From here he began to sell goods from his farm to local residents and also served as mayor of Greer for two years between 1871-72. In 1914, Mrs Smith moved from Sparta togreer with her children after her husband's death. She started a grocery store on main street that continued operation until 1978 when it was bought by Capital One bank and closed down for good. In 1924-1925, John Hammond built a residence on Station Road which still stands today as one of Greer's most prominent landmarks (along with its namesake). He was an oilman who operated wells near Greer throughout much of its history before becoming active in politics as alderman for Spartanburg County from 1925-1929 and again from 1931-1935; he also served as county executive from 1937-1945. Hammond later died at home without ever having run for office again!

During this time period, gun parts played an important role in many battles including these: In 1865-1866 Europe experienced what is known as “the great plague pandemic” which caused widespread death throughout much of the world due to air pollution from dirty airships carrying sick patients (see also: “Black Death”). Gunsmiths across Europe responded quickly to meet demand for new pistols and rifles designed specifically during this time period (e.g., Browning Model 1892 Colt revolver; Winchester Model 1886 rifle). Many famous military engagements took place during this time such as The Battle of Zanesville OH on May 12th 1868 where McClellan's Confederates attempted to cross the Ohio River by boat; however his troops destroyed all bridges leading into Cincinnati PriorToBattle and subsequent Union victory! At about this time too Remington Arms Company became embroiled in litigation regarding their product Gold Medal Rifle - a model which ultimately failed)….

The town of Greer, located in the Upstate region of South Carolina, was founded by slave traders on the banks of the Savannah River in 1777. The first white settlers arrived in 1779 and named the settlement after General James Oglethorpe. The town grew rapidly and by 1821 it had a population of over 1,500. In 1824 Greer became a separate parish and circuit court seat within the Diocese of Charleston. During ReconstructionGreer experienced rapid growth as an agricultural center due to its good soil, low taxes, and strong cotton production. However, integration problems led to violence and economic decline in the late 1920s and early 1930s. In 1935 Greer granted city status to help attract more businesses and residents. However, during World War II Greer was bombed by Japanese forces and many residents were killed or wounded. In recent years Greer has been struggling with economic troubles. The population decreased from around 1,600 in 2000 to 900 in 2010 before recovering slightly to 1,800 in 2013 according to census data. There is also concern that hate crimes may increase because of their location within close proximity to black neighborhoods in Charleston
