Since 2000, Greenwood has seen an increase in development due to its location within striking distance of both Spartanburg and Greenville proper with new shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and other businesses opening up along Interstate 95 near downtown Greenville and US 401/I-95 interchange just outside of town limits
