This led to increased business activity for local businesses which contributed significantly to downtown's redevelopment during this time frame. In recent decades, growth within Greenville has slowed due to tight economic constraints that have limited access to affordable housing along with reductions in industry across all sectors resulting from global competition combined with increases in tuition costs at local universities across South Carolina not coinciding with falling real estate values throughout Greater Charlotte or Atlanta. Despite these challenges, current residents remain supportive of their community while promoting revitalization efforts through events such as Bluegrass Days events which bring together people from all walks of life for music and shopping purposes along with art exhibitions throughouttown each year
