Goose Creek is a small town in McCormick County, South Carolina.The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan area. The community located on the banks of the Goose Creek River between McCormick and Laurens Counties. beginnings Goose Creek started off as a simple cabin settlement by white farmers in 1836. By 1860, the village had grown to include a store, three churches, two schools and twenty-four homes. When railroad construction began in 1871, settlers brought their homes and businesses with them when they built the first track into town. In 1892, after more than sixty years of growth and development, Goose Creek became an incorporated municipality with its own government and courts. As one of South Carolina's "inner cities", Goose Creek has seen advances in social services since it was established as a municipality: today it offers housing for seniors (!), employment opportunities for citizens who are not native English speakers (a rarity in this rural area), comprehensive physical health screenings for all residents every year as well as free birth control pills to those over eighteen years old; also provides carpooling/bike sharing services to its fellow citizens; operates an ice cream parlor that serves up fresh cones during summertime; hosts monthly art walks throughout the year; participates actively in local food drives.;and recently opened its doors to five acres of new retail space which will house both general merchandise sales along with restaurant seating options inside and outside on facing balconies overlookingthe river

Goose Creek, South Carolina is a small town located in the extreme southwest corner of the state of South Carolina. The town was founded by English colonists in the early 17th century, and it became an important stop on the Underground Railroad during the American Revolution. Goose Creek was also named for General "The Swamp Fox" Robert E. Lee, who lived in nearby Lexington County at the time. Today, Goose Creek is asmall farming community with a population of around 1,500 residents. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Goose Creek were indentured servants from East India Company territories in Southeast Asia. By 1692, all but one of these slaves had been released and had settled in what is now Goose Creek. In 1721, John Chilton built a small cabin near present-day goose creek on land that he donated to the townspeople. The first store was established here in 1727 and operated under several different names until it was finally renamed "The Post House." In 1811, Isaac Neely organized a group of farmers and businessmen to develop what would become Goose Creek Township into a commercial center for central South Carolina. This effort led to the founding of the goose creek Academy (later known as Davidson College) in 1814 and helped support local prosperity until after Reconstruction when railroads made Goose Creek an important transportation hub. During World War II, Goose Creek played an important role as an airfield for military fighter pilots flying over central South Carolina during WWII; however, little remains today depicting this period of history within its namesake community. In recent years, efforts have been made to maintain some semblance of historical continuity within goose creek through various events including: hosting annual vintage tractor pulls; conducting ghost tours throughout town each winter; and developing several Heritage restoration projects which include restoring original homes dating back to 1800s
The Goose Creek Massacre occurred on September 6, 1771, when a group of Swiss settlers in South Carolina were massacred by the Cherokee.
