High Capacity Kits (HCKs) were a type of home energy efficient heating and cooling system introduced in the early 1990s by Honeywell. HCKs are designed to store heated or cooled air in specially constructed drums, where they can be used at any time during the day or night. When activated, the HCK will heat or cool the space it is located in up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The kit typically comes with two drum sets, an AC adapter and duct tape. The first high capacity kits were built in Goose Creek, South Carolina in 1992 by local company HoneywellQC. The original design featured three drums that could hold up to 1,500 cfm of air each. Each kit was able to produce a temperature of up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and produced up to 25 kW of power when activated. In 1995, HoneywellQC merged with Lennox Corporation and became known as Honeywell-Lennox Corporation. With this change in name, high capacity kits began becoming marketed under new names such as HCM-X3D (High Capacity Module for 3 Dimensional Enclosure), HCM-4G (4 GPM High Capacity Air Conditioner), HS-2S (2 Stage Heat Pump), and TCM-5P (5 Phase Turbo Cooling Module). In 2003, Lennox Corporation retired their high capacity kit line and sold all rights associated with it to Infinity Climate Technologies Incorporated. Additionally, it featured an increased number of I/O pins which allowed for more functionality and expansion than traditional DDR2 kits. Goose Creek is located in the U.S. state of South Carolina, and is a town in Laurens County. The population was 2,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Spartanburg–Anderson metropolitan area. Geography and history Goose Creek was first settled by European Americans in 1784 as a small community on the banks of the Ashe River. The name may be derived from an Algonquian word meaning "river with geese". In 1812, Acker's Landing was founded on the creek by African American traders led by James Acker, who became sheriff of Laurens County in 1824. The town began to grow after Colonel Jameson Pike built a log cabin near its outlet on Providence Road in 1836. By 1840, Goose Creek had a post office, two churches (one Baptist, one Methodist), three stores, four blacksmiths, five farmers, and six slaves. In 1846-47, when Charleston Register published its first issue (covering events leading up to and following Confederate surrender at Fort Sumter), Goose Creek had 1 store and 16 residents; it also boasted 3 taverns and 6 saloons serving hard drink to locals and visitors alike. In 1850-51 new maps developed based on surveys taken during Indian Removal proceedings; these showed that what was then Goose Creek had been annexed into Cherokee Nation land east of Hiwassee River along Withlacoochee creekage; this annexation occasioned some resistance among local Native Americans due to fears about future encroachment onto their traditional territories1 . However, over time many Creeks chose to accept this fate since they saw no other way out given white settlers' growing efforts to control all aspects of their lives2 . When Indian Removal ended in 1865 most of the Cherokees were forced westward across South Carolina into Oklahoma Territory3 ; however some remained behind within Cherokee Nation boundaries until 19464 . Some 93% of all Native Americans living within Cherokee Nation boundaries were forcibly removed from their homes during this process5 . mapmakers did not differentiate between "Creek" Indians and "Cherokee" Indians6 so many details about early Goose Creek may remain unknown or undocumented – including how many farms there were actually scattered throughout various sections7 ."
The area that is now Goose Creek was first settled by the Cherokee in the late 18th century. In 1775, General James Robertson and his army invaded southeastern South Carolina and discovered a large tract of land that was then known as "The Great Dismal Swamp." The Cherokees were forced to leave their land and it became part of British America. In 1830, Congress created the U.S. District Court for South Carolina and Goose Creek was one of its original districts. The court moved from Columbia to Goose Creek in 1835, making it one of the earliest federal courts in South Carolina. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor. This event led to a large number of civilian casualties and helped to trigger Reconstruction in South Carolina. After the war, many white Southerners relocated to Goose Creek because they found new opportunities there. Many African Americans also moved to Goose Creek during this time period because they were fearful of being drafted into the Union Army or worse yet experiencing Discrimination at home. After Reconstruction ended in 1877, many black residents left Goose Creek for better opportunities elsewhere in south Carolina or north Georgia. However, some remained behind and continued operating businesses such as grocery stores and churches until recently when economic conditions made them unprofitable.
