Bullets were first used in the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Bullet history in Goose Creek, South Carolina began with a rifle that was displayed at a fair in 1892. Rifle manufacturers from across the United States competed in this event, and one company from Goose Creek won the trophy. The rifle was designed by Capt. John Sibley and manufactured by Pfeffer & Sibley Company of Winchester, Massachusetts. It had a round bore and was about 54 calibers long. The Confederacy needed firearms to defend its borders against Union forces, so bullet production became important for the war effort. In 1862, bullets were produced for use with rifles made by Jesse James Armory of Lexington Kentucky. However, after Confederate General Robert Easley surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865, all ammunition production ended in South Carolina because there were no more rifles or bullets available to be produced there!

Goose Creek was founded on April 10th, 1805 by Captain John Smith along with his party when they discovered land that would later become Spartanburg County. originally called Gowan or Goochy it was given to them by some locals who saw one of Captains Smiths hunting geese near where he lived at present day known as Owlick Road just south of the current intersection of SR 356 & I-95A (now Gadsden Rd). At this point there were only 2 families living here; those that had ceded their land back to England for King George II during the British Invasion so we can understand why today’s citizens may not know about what took place here nearly 150 years ago! Jameson’s Ferry Bridge crosses Duck River just east of our current location which gives us access from Canada/US border for all sorts of fishing including Crappie & Catfish! Today many people live here because our economy depends upon agriculture; raising livestock (livestock farming), manufacturing products such as machinery parts & components used in various industries such as automobiles Manufacturing paper products like signs etc., Then there are also service providers providing general needs such as plumbingumbing ect.. There are currently no stores open within walking distance so you have to take your chances getting what you need from one if any shop(gas stations being built closer now days!) either way its nice knowing we have things like Walmart 3 miles away but thats another story altogether Some interesting facts about this small town: First off since 1955 GCOE school district has been located right next door across SR 356 between Duck River Rd./SR 706W (& Owlick Rd.), making it possible for students within 5 blocks of their homes! Second off due to our location close to both international borders we've seen an influx of refugees coming into our community over recent years primarily from countries such as Syria Lebanon Zimbabwe etc….. Third off even though we may not be able to find anything on Google or Wikipedia about it anymore 😉 some old timers still remember good times w/Pete Goodloe who ran The Post Office back then until recently !! Fourth off most people know about Pee Wee Reese who grew up around here too although no one knows exactly when he started playing ball locally….. GN

Goose Creek is a small town located in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The community was founded in 1837 by Scots-Irish immigrants and their families. Goose Creek has been continuously inhabited since that time. The population of Goose Creek was 2,047 as of the 2010 census. The first settlers to Goose Creek were the McAllister clan from Scotland who arrived in 1798. One of the most well-known members of the McAllister clan was Duncan Macdonald (1768-1852). He served as a member of South Carolina's House of Representatives from 1807 to 1812 and then as its Speaker from 1815 to 1830. After his service in the state legislature, he moved to Spartanburg County and started a farm there. His daughter, Janet (1799-1876), married John Pritchard (1800-1878) also from Scotland and they lived at Duck Pond on Pritchard's farm until their deaths. They were followed by their children, including Janet's brother Alexander (1810-1893), who also became involved in farming and later served as mayor of Spartanburg County. Another family that settled in Goose Creek during this time was the Rankins who emigrated from Ireland around 1800s with their children John, Margaret and JamesonRankin Sr.. In addition to farming, these Rankins also operated a mill which still stands today near downtown goose creek south carolina . In 1901 when post office #1 opened it listed an address for "Old Mill Road", which later became "Downtown". At that time it had a population of 176 people . By 1920 it had grown to 1,527 people with an additional building being added on top called "The Castle" which housed a grocery store etcetera .
