The name stuck and the town developed around it. In 1851, Jno. Bowen's son-in-law Wm. Pritchett bought land east of Goose Creek and laid out a township with three churches and twenty-four dwellings. Residents voted to change their name to Goose Creek in 1857, after Pritchett's family had emigrated from Scotland to America and become farmers there. In 1865, residents voted to add an eastern square block (now known as North Main Street) to the township so that they could build a courthouse and jail; this addition gave the community its current name of "Goose Creek". The first school in Goose Creek was built in 1830 by Mrs. Higginson; it served grades one through twelve until 1861 when it burned down due to termites eating away at the logs! A new school was built on what is now State Route 156 (later US 61) just east of downtown in 1868; this school operated until 1925 when it burned down again! The present day high school building was erected between 1951 and 1955 on land donated by Mrs._Moses Kingman for that purpose! In 1916 local farmer Wm.'s estate donated sixty acres (twenty hectares) northeast of downtown for use as farmland; this property has been used as goosecreek golf courses since then! Today much of what once comprised downtown is residential housing developments – although some businesses still operate within city limits including several banks which are still open today despite being closed during prohibition!.

After the war ended, the town experienced some growth due to new subdivisions being built throughout the area. However, overall population decline commences during this period due to increasing suburbanization within Spartanburg County and other factors such as technological advancements that have impacted rural towns throughout America
The first white settlers in Goose Creek County were John C. Calhoun and his family who arrived in 1819. The town of Goose Creek was founded by them on a tract of land they bought from the Choctaws. In 1830, the county seat was moved to Mount Pleasant and continued to be so until 1871 when it was moved to Rock Hill.
