The first cannon that was fired in the town of Goose Creek was a 12 pounder cannon. Ammunition became an important part of war due to its potential to kill many people and property. In 1819, a Riot Gun from Charleston was brought into town and used in combat against Native Americans. This gun became famous because it killed more people than any other weapon during the Revolutionary War. In 1835, Congress passed an act that authorized the manufacture of arms by certain companies within the United States at home. Armouryashop founded by Nicholas Flournoy in Goose Creek became one of these companies. Over time, this company grew into one of the largest arsenals in America. Ammunition production continued until 1963 when all manufacturing operations were discontinued because of economic reasons. Today, a small museum located within the armory preserves some remnants of this ammunition production timeline.

Goose Creek is a community in Richland County, South Carolina. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Goose Creek were the Sokoki tribe. They were there when the area was first settled by English settlers in 1772. There are references to them throughout history. One such reference is from 1775 when Captain John Stroud noted that "the Sokoki Indians have left us and they will not return until we kill them". In 1801, Richard Henderson bought land around Goose Creek from James Ogle for £100 cash and he named it Henderson's Chapel after his father-in-law, who had given him the land. The first store opened in 1802 on West Main Street and it was known as the Indian Store until 1833 when it became known as Henter's store after Mr. Henter who ran it for many years. In 1830, David Henderson donated a house to be used as a schoolhouse and this became known as Hardesty School House which still stands today on North Park Drive near Interstate 95 (now I-95 South). Later that year, Reverend George Washington Marshall arrived in South Carolina with his brigade of soldiers during the American Revolution and soon afterwards began preaching Christianity to Native Americans living along the coast of South Carolina Lake Island including those at Goose Creek where he baptized some of them on October 11th, 1781 while also giving instruction to local natives about God's plan for America: ". . . All these nations being delivered over by God Almighty into our hands must needs submit with due respect to us; but if any among you resist or fight against us we should suffer such chastisements as God shall direct." This sermon led to conversions among local natives and played an important role in helping bring about independence for America from Great Britain back in November 1781 even though many colonists at home didn't believe in religious freedom for Native Americans! This event helped start what would becomeknown as "The Christian Mission" which would continue up through present day especially since Reverend Marshall himself served both periodicals suchas "The American Bible Advocate"and "Life" magazine both faithfully evangelizing among nearby Conecuh Indian Reservation residents before eventually dying there at 86 years old on December 5th, 1976 after more than fifty years crusading hard proselytizingamongst his fellow Natives!). The church building still stands today acrossfrom North Park Drive off I-95 just outside Columbia where Revs George Washington Marshall & Reuben Asbury conducted their amazing services 50 YEARS AGO!

Goose Creek is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbia metropolitan area. The town was founded by Colonel John Catlett and named after his Goose Creek Mills plantation in Transylvania County, North Carolina. In 1868, Catlett sold the mills to A.P. Hill and Others for $1 million dollars. The town was incorporated on December 3, 1872. The first post office in Goose Creek was established on July 10, 1870. The name of the local lake changed from Battle Lake to Goose Creek because it became necessary to change some of the initial letters due to confusion over similar names given to other places in the county seat area such as Greenville and magna cum laude (the university’s high school). The first businesses opened in Goose Creek were a millinery store and a blacksmith shop, both operated by Mrs. Henson (later Day). A grocery store also opened soon afterwards; however it closed within a year because of low sales combined with bad weather conditions which led to apathy among residents about opening businesses during difficult economic times during that time period A post office opened at Goose creek on November 8, 1872 under the name Catlettstown after Colonel John Catlett who had purchased the land from A P Hill for $1 million dollar Families living near or inside of goose creek started summertime gatherings called "fairs" where they would have picnics and sell goods made from fresh produce gathered during their season
The first European to explore the area that is now Goose Creek was a Spanish explorer, Juan Ponce de León, in 1513. The English explorer John Lawson explored the area in 1670. It was not until 1751 that a permanent British settlement was established at Christmastown on the creek. The town gradually grew and by 1827 had a population of 5,000 people. By 1881, it had increased to 12,000 people and by 1959 had reached its current size of over 50,000 people.
