In 1904, Easley merged with neighboring Allendale to form one municipality known as Allendale-Easley. This merger helped increase economic development in both Towns through increased trade and transportation opportunities; as well as creating a more centralized government structure which facilitated better coordination among local businesses. Today, Easley remains an agriculturally based community with strong ties to its surrounding rural districts; though industrial production has decreased significantly since World War II ended most manufacturing ventures have shifted towards service industries such as tourism and education. In addition to its traditional agricultural pursuits (mainly cotton), Easley also plays host annually to several major events including the Lowcountry Music Festival and Hiwassee Jazz Festivals which attract top international jazz musicians into South Carolina for weeks at a time.
