Easley is a town in Sumter County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. Easley is known for its peach orchards and white pickled ginger sauce. Easley was founded by General James Longstreet in 1814 as a Station on the Great Western Railroad. The name of the town may be derived from "Easley" (a small village located near modern-day Easley) being named after General James Longstreet's father-in-law's estate there. It served as headquarters of the First Regiment Confederate Infantry until it was disbanded in 1865. The first post office in Easley was established on July 10, 1815, under the name "Aiken". A new post office called "Sumterville" was established on October 15, 1822 and remained in operation until May 7, 1893; it was renamed "Easley" effective that date. In 1881, J.C. Meek & Son built a sawmill and farm complex (). The mill closed down circa 1903 but remnants remain today including a large dam across Duck Creek which forms part of Meek Park overlooking duck pond; also visible are an early 20th century chicken coop and reconstructed barn/laboratory addition dating to 1915 which is now used as a park visitor center

In 1896 it merged with Winston Salem to form the current metropolitan area which has grown steadily since then with annexations from other municipalities including Greenville and Columbia counties The local economy revolves around agriculture and manufacturing which include textile production, furniture making, meatpacking and poultry packing among others. The town's largest employer is JBS Companies Inc., which operates an agricultural processing plant that processes cottonseed into food products such as breads, noodles, pasta sauce/pasta dishes, biscuits and more

The Easley post office was established in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1908, Easley became one of seven towns to become part of the newly formed Columbia City limits. The town boundaries were redefined by an act of the South Carolina General Assembly on July 1, 1913. Easley incorporated as a city on December 12, 1916. The city's first mayor was John Denton Pemberton.
