In 1905, Charles Hestand introduced a new type of barrel called a rifled barrel. Rifling is an effective way to improve the accuracy of Firearms by reducing friction between the moving parts of a gun. This reduced drag caused by particles in air when firing ammunition resulted in increased muzzle velocity and greater range for handguns vs rifles. During World War II, both Japan and America relied heavily on barrel production from John Brown's Barrels due to wartime constraints on resources/production capacity within each country

The early armsmakers in Easley used a variety of woods and metals including oak, hickory, cedar, maple, sycamore, and willow. In 1824 a small arsenal was opened by Colonel John Hennessey which enjoyed success until 2006 when it closed its doors because of financial difficulties. In 1852gun barrel production resumed as the Aiken Arms Company was founded near downtown Easley with help from local industrialists David Dyer and James Witherspoon. Aiken Arms operated successfully for several years making shotguns, rifles, handguns and ammunition. During this time gun barrels were produced using both billet aluminum alloying methods as well as forged steel methods. After World War II Aiken Arms merged with other companies forming what is now Cabelas Incorporated; however some assets remain within the family-name ownership including Aiken Arms Manufacturing Co.; Anaconda Firearmsworks Inc.; Arrowguns Inc.-a manufacturer of home defense firearms;and two remaining branches: Aiken Armaments & Ammunition Corporation (AAC) located off I-95 south of town;[1]and Anaconda Gun Works outside Greenville County on US 11 east of town.[2][3] After closure in 2006 AAC reopened under new management but has not been successful since then The last gun barrel production plant in Easley closed down in 1987
Easley is a small town in the state of South Carolina. The population was 3,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbia, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. Easley is named after Ebenezer Easley, an early settler and Revolutionary War veteran. Easley was founded in 1837 by Colonel John C. Campbell and his wife Elizabeth Purdy Campbell. Ebenezer Easley purchased land from Colonel Campbell for $4 per acre. The first post office was established in 1839. Ebenezar Easley also built a mill on the site that still stands today. The town achieved city status in 1907 and annexed surrounding communities including Berkeley Springs, Rocky Mount, and Waynesboro in 1912. In 1925, it became a county seat with Clifton as its new capital. In 1930, voters approved a $2 million bond issue to build a high school and library which were completed two years later without incident. In 1938, Ebenezar Easley died at the age of ninety-eight and was buried alongside his wife Elizabeth Purdy Campbell at Calvary Cemetery in Richland County.. Since then several other families have occupied the property including those of Colleen McCullough (1941), Jane Austen Goldsmith (1947), George Wuerthner (1948), Edwin Starr(1949) and James Baldwin (1963). Today much of what once constituted Ebenezar Easley has been destroyed by fire or development but portions such as the old post office building remain standing as part of Heritage Pointe Historic District.

Additionally , these typesof barrels provide greater longevity since they will not corrode over time

Easley is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 9,716 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Spartanburg–Anderson metropolitan area. Easley was founded in 1824 by General James Hundley and his white settler party as Fort Hundley on an island in the Ashley River. He named it for John Easley who had been with him during the American Revolution and helped lead the march from Lexington to Concord. The first store opened in 1827 and soon other stores followed until Easley had a full-time population of 10 people. In 1840, a Baptist church was built and by 1844 there were nine churches in operation. A post office was established at Fort Hundley in 1845, but it was moved to Easley two years later because of malaria problems there. The first railroad arrived here in 1889 when the Spartanburg Railroad came through from Greenville via Anderson. In 1907, Hurricane Wilma passed over southeastern SC and caused extensive damage to local businesses including many stores that closed their doors for good as well as homes along with schools and churches - this event is known locally as "The GreatWilma Earthquake". Aftermath saw many businesses come back online such as restaurants which reopened within days; however most homes were still destroyed or damaged beyond repair so business never really recovered until more recently when remodeling began to take place largely replacing original structures with modern equivalents Today much of what used to be downtown Easley has been redeveloped into high-endlivable housing areas like Ashley Ridge Estates & Townhomes or Sellers Hill Village while small portions remain mostly untouched anchored by Historic landmarks like Fort Hundley Post Office which now houses apartments dating back to 1860
