In 1911, Andrew Jarrell bought a small gun shop called Gunshop Aiken inside of an oldrace-owned grocery store in Conway. Jarrell began selling rifles and shotguns here and quickly gained popularity amongshooters in South Carolina. His shop was eventually renamed Pistolero Firearms after he started marketing handguns under that name. Jarrell's company continued to produce firearms through World War II, when many Charleston manufacturers went out of business because of wartime rationing restrictions. However, Pistolero Firearms reopened after the war and continued production until 1957 when it merged with another local company, Brownells firearm dealers Inc., which became one of America's leading handgun retailers

Some more settlers followed including James Moultrie (1799-1865) who built another farm called "Moultrie Plantation" five miles east of present day Conway on Hwy 78 near modern day Brownville In 1827 Drury Cargill came along with his family which included his wife Esther (née Cartwright). They settled down nine miles south of present day Conway on a tract known as Cargill’s Purchase which included lands adjoining Upson’s Creek near modern day Sanford On October 1st 1829 Drury Cargill bought 10 acres north west of where I-95 now intersects US 12 both eastbound lanes forming milepost 2 northeast of Sanford from William Craven . This purchase marked the first time that slaves were allowed access to free white soil in what would become Greeneville County Mr. Craven later donated this land to Pee Dee Baptist Church which still uses it today when making donations off their property In 1830 George Washington Matthews purchased “Carters Plantation” four miles northwest ofpresentday Conway from Nicholas Carters . This purchase marked the beginning of White Fields Township creating much controversy because no Negroes wereallowed live there until 1865 when black farmers were admitted following reconstruction efforts by President Abraham Lincoln Aftermathmany White Fields residents relocated to nearby Sanford or Oxford due to desegregation Laws passed during Reconstruction forced these people out again In 1833 James Boggs moved into present day Conway Township with his family consistingof his Wife Anna Maria(née Cobb) , 2 Sons Thomas (baptized December 3rd 1800 d/o Rev Hugh Cobb) & Jesse (baptized January 11th 1802 d&o Jane Ann Morse) & Daughter Sally Ann Boggs From Scotland With Friends And Family We Came To Settlesection Of Our Own Land Which Is Now Called Bolton But At That Time It Was Called Conway township The First African American To Hold A Public Estate In This Area Was James Boggs himself
