As result of this vote, Columbians came to symbolize resistance against racism throughout the south during Reconstruction era (1865-1913). In 1865 Major General William Tecumseh Sherman set up his winter headquarters at what is now known as White House Cemetery near downtown Columbia; during his march through South Carolina on November 9-10 1865 he noted "the beautiful old town" located about 15 miles east of Charleston being sacked and ruined by Confederate forces less than 24 hours earlier! A few months later on January 17th 1863 Union General Sherman burned all remaining Corinthian columns at Fort Sumter after besieging it for over five weeks following its capture during February 1862’s Second Battle Of Corinth; thus ending any hope that Confederate troops might retake Corinth – an event that would have serious implications for southern white society subsequent into the 20th century because it demonstrated white control over key military resources such as territory) In 1895 Columbians established an agricultural college known today as Clemson University which helped solidify ties between Clemson University and Columbian institutions across America resulting in some highly respected graduates like Wernher Von Braun who developed rockets while attending Clemson University

They killed one policeman and took his rifle before running into hiding. The police eventually caught up with them and killed both Brown and Knox. This event is known as the Indianapolis Massacre.
