From here on out, The Gist Clubhouse served as one of the leadinggun venues for target practice throughout South Carolina until it closed its doors in 1970. Another popular spot for shooters within Charleston is Jordan Park Shooting Grounds. This range was built between 1907 and 1909 by Colonel George Wartonuhl for his own personal use only. It has since become a popular tourist destination for those who love target practice or history-focused activities alike! There are also a number of other historical sites located within walking distance of Jordan Park Shooting Grounds that provide interesting insights into both local Gun History and target practice culture during earlier times: The Battery at King's Chapel features aneight-pounder cannon salvaged from Fort Sumter which was used against Confederate troops during 1861-1865; Pioneer Cemetery contains over 450 graves associated with early settlers who cross paths with firearms at various points along their journey westward; The Cannon House Museum offers exhibits on shipbuilding techniques used during World War II; and finally, Old Plantation Lawn near Mount Pleasant features some very old cannons dating back to before British colonization took place!
