The Cayce Shooting Club, Inc. was founded in 1886 in the small town of Cayce, South Carolina. The club has been a premier shooting organization in the area for more than 130 years. The club currently operates two ranges, one indoors and one outdoors. The club offers a variety of shooting programs for members who are interested in learning how to shoot safely and effectively. In addition to their shooting program, the club also provides range instruction, target practice, and firearms education for individuals of all ages.

Cayce, South Carolina has experienced a number of shootings which have resulted in the injury or death of people. Shooting incidents have occurred dating back to at least 1896. In that year, two men were shot and killed while playing ball outside a saloon in Cayce.
Cayce is a small town in the southeastern corner of South Carolina, just east of the state line with Georgia. It is located on A1A, about 25 miles southwest of Charleston and 50 miles northeast of Savannah. Cayce was founded in 1827 by Methodist missionaries, and has been a center for religious services, education, industry and trade since then. The population was 793 at the 2010 census. The origins of Cayce can be traced back to 1827 when Methodist missionaries arrived in what is now South Carolina looking to start a new community where they could preach their Gospel message. They named their new settlement "Cayce" after General James A. Cayce who had fought against American Indians during the War for independence from Britain. Cayce was founded in 1821 by General James W. Cayce and his brother, Colonel John C. Cayce as a plantation on the Ashley River. The original home of General James W. Cayce and his wife is now a museum located in downtown Charleston. The town was named after Elias Pee Dee, an English explorer who Explore the Ashley River region in 1786-87. In 1811, General James W. Cayce sold the property to Nathaniel Pope for $2,500 and moved to nearby Georgetown where he became a justice of the peace and member of the state legislature. He also served as president of Georgetown College from 1830 to 1837 and again from 1840 to 1849. In1834, Congressman Nathaniel Pope acted as sponsor for a bill that created South Carolina's first congressional district which included parts of Ashley County including Caycetown and Holyokeowne Creek on the Edgecombe River. The House Judiciary Committee voted 8-1 to approve the plan with Representative Robert Peel voting against it because he felt that areas such as Ashley County should be considered separately for representation in Congress rather than being combined into one district which would benefit only those living near him within easy reach). In 1840 Governor John Kapp appointed Judge Nathaniel Pope governor of South Carolina due to his opposition to President Martin Van Buren's proposed renomination via popular vote instead choosing Reverend Drury Colemaninstead In 1844 Native American Indians attacked white settlers near what is now known as King’s Chapel at what is now called Old Kings Landing contributing directly to the end of slavery in South Carolina c1845 There are several interesting sites located within walking distance or car travel including: The site where early white settlers first discovered sugarcane has been extensively excavated with excellent results revealing evidence indicativeof human activity dating back over 6500 years! Site artifacts include tools used by early farmers such as hoes, axes, tomahawks and more; evidence that sugar cane was grown here before European arrival! One particularly exciting discovery was an ancient pottery vessel exhibiting signs indicating its use during pre-Columbian times! Excavation continued throughout 2014 but unfortunately no new finds have yet been reported; however future excavation may uncover even moreitage! In 1865, Cayce formed part of Charleston and at that time had a population of only around 2,000 people. However, by 1880, Cayce had more than 12,000 residents and was considered one of the most important cities on the southeastern seaboard. In 1902, Cayce voted to become an independent city and has since been its leading cultural and commercial center.
