Since its establishment as a municipality, Anderson has made significant contributions to South Carolina history including developing many important civic institutions such as municipal court, fire department, library system and hospitals – all of which are still functioning today. One of the most notable achievements of Anderson’s municipal government was their role in helping to create Columbia University which now exists as one of South Carolina’s leading universities with over 20 faculties and over 90 undergraduate students.
