In the early 1900s, they started producing a type of non-toxic plastic material that helped reduce noise levels. They also developed an electric contact lens design that allowed workers to wear them even when it was dark outside. In 1935, Providence Ear Muffs and Protectors became part of Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC). At EMC, the company continued to produce high quality products until its merger with GE in 1967. During their time at GE, the company produced over 1 million pairs of ear muffs and protectors per year. Providence, Rhode Island is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 37,362 at the 2010 census. Providence is the most populous municipality in Providence County and one of the five boroughs of Providence. The City of Providence and its two wards are separate from the Town of Providence. The first permanent settler in what is now Providence was Stephen Hopkins, who arrived with his family on Easter Sunday, March 12th 1636. One hundred years later Sir George Yeo granted land to Nicholas Stone for settlement around what would become downtown Providence. In 1795 Reverend John Green built a farmstead on Middle Street near present-day State Street which became known as Green's Hill. In 1812 an act of Congress designated part of Narragansett Bay as the site for a new capital city and named it after President James K. Polk (the "Father" of American Politics). On May 24th 1821 Governor Edmund Sullivant approved plans by Colonel Jonathan Edwards to establish what would become the first municipal government in Rhode Island under charter form – called Corporation v New London Corporation – with twelve voting members including three commissioners from each ward; each commissioner represented an acre or more within his ward boundaries - greater than present city limits! The original name for this new civic body may have been inspired by English common law concept of corporation: "a society instituted among men whereby they can share together their goods and services." In 1835 Rev Nathaniel Hawthorne donated land south of Exeter Avenue between West Broad and North King Streets for use as a public square; construction began that year and finished in 1837. That same year Governor Andrew Johnson established a Boardwalk along Narragansett Bay to provide access to points westward beyond ourthen existing market towns such as Bristol and Warwick; this boardwalk remain today adjacent to both State House Park & Dunkin' Donuts Center across Waterfront Drive from Newport Harbor Marina! On March 5th 1830 Abraham Phelps organized the first Baptist congregation in RI when he erected Meeting House #1 on Woodland Road north-west ofpresent day Amherst Plaza Shopping Center – also serving as home for early Growth Point Baptist Church until 1906 when that congregation moved east across Neilson Boulevard intoAmherst Place! This meeting house still stands today overlooking TD Ameritrade Arena across Frome Boulevard from Amherst Place Mall! He went on to organize other churches throughout RI – all starting small but all growing larger over time! On October 7th 1830 Abraham Phelps died suddenly while preaching at Mount Hope Congregational church located just outside modern day Dracut & Coventry Streets near Orangeburg University! He had been pastor there since January 9th 1830!!! His death left much work unfinished at Mt Hope Congregational!!

At that time Rhode Island consisted only of territory that lay east of Narraganset Bayou—a area now comprising much of Fall River County and much of Warwick County—and much less than modern-day Rhode Island proper (which includes all but easternmost Cranston County). From this small beginning many significant events occurred including: 1) The founding of Jamestown by colonists led by John Smith; 2) The seizure by Spanish forces during King Philip II's War for control over Narraganset Bayou; 3) The signing of the Declarationof Independence by Rhode Islanders aboard HMS Constitution during the American Revolution; 4) A group led by Captain John Smith traveled inland from Portsmouth Harbor via Deerfield Beach in searchof natural resources such as gas chambers deep within Woonsocket Harbour; 5) Settlement at Mount Hope where rudimentary housing units were erected before being abandoned due lack of interest or development later that year; 6) Construction beginning late in 1639–40 resulting in James Conte's first store being built across present day Main Street from Yard Lake nearpresent day Baldwin Hill Road 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 It should be noted here that even though many events took place prior to 1776 – some dating back centuries – those leading up to ratification of our dear country’s Constitution did take place primarily within what are today known as “Providence” bounds! On October 26th , 1776 - just six days shy of four score years - representatives from twelve colonies convened at Kingston under then Colonist Gov't Head Nicholas Johnson pursuant to Article III Section 2 Of Our Constitutions To Ratify Confederation And Make One Country Out Of Many! After lengthy debate chaired by Mr…. Johnson - & Dr….. Adams wee arrived at this ResolutionFinalizing our political structure without any bloodshed or violence!!! As promised we met again Septembryer next ensuing yr TO Ratify Confederation yet again & Additions Hereto Which We Shall hereafter Adopt By Order OF THE GOVERNOR
