By 1770 there were 560 people living here with about 3 square miles (8 km2) of property cultivation each! With rapid growth came social tensions as white men eager to start businesses clashed withNative American farmers over access to resources like water, timber, and food parcels In 1814 an act was passed which divided Rhode Islanders into two groups: those living within three miles (5 km) of Providence center or call “the Heads” as opposed to those farther away who became known as “The Outlaws” because they refused to pay taxes collected by Hartford authorities This effectively ended any chance that rural residents would have had of joining forces against their city-dwellers – something that continued through much of the 19th century However during World War II many residents banded together to fight against Axis forces while others took up arms against McCarthyism After war had ended there was increased demand for jobs so throughout the 1990s Central Falls saw significant redevelopment including new housing developments along Park Road as well as several large stores such as JCPenney and Sears Roebuck .
