His company produced some of the world’s most famous firearms including the Model 1837 rifle which was used in both the American Revolution and World War II. In 1865, Samuel Colt started making revolvers here and this became a major center of gun production in Rhode Island. In 1898, during the Spanish-American War, General “Cheech” Lee brought twenty machineguns to Central Falls from Providence for use against Spanish forces. The gunsfired rounds that weighed up to 2 pounds each and caused great damage to enemy positions. The manufacture of handguns here continued until 1959 when all gun production stopped due to overproduction

Today, Centralfalls enjoys strong economic ties with neighboring Pawtucket thanks to its close proximity to interstate 95 and its wide range of retail options including restaurants, music venues and small businesses throughout downtown which offers nightlife opportunities for residents not only during weekdays but also weekends. Additionally, there are several cultural attractions located within walking distance such as Queen Anne's Chapel which features Gothic Revival architecture dating back to 1735; Water Street Theater where plays are staged every Sunday evening from September through May; The Creole House Museum featuring African American culture from before emancipation; Andalusia County Jail which has been used as a jail since 1922; and URIAC Stadium where football games are played each fall season between URIAC University students' teams (RIAC Red Wolves) and local high school teams (Lincoln High School Pirates).
