In Arms Magazine’s Jan/Feb, 2006 issue, we feature an article on the history and restoration of firearms in Central Falls. The town of Central Falls is located in Narragansett County, Rhode Island and was founded by the Pilgrims in 1636. At that time, the area consisted of just a few farms and settlements. Today, Central Falls is one of the most vibrant towns in Rhode Island with a population of over 60,000 residents. It has experienced many different phases in its history including being a mill town during the 19th century; becoming a center for fishing during the early 20th century; and then becoming known as an agricultural center during the mid-20th century. One of the oldest guns still functioning today is a muzzleloader dating back to 1754. In 1834, two cannons were brought to Central Falls from Portsmouth via train and were installed at what is now Park Street Baptist Church. These cannons were used as part of Army artillery during World War II until they were removed in 1946. The first gunsmith shop opened up in Central Falls in 1835 by Amos Fenton Jr., who also operated anvils and forge near what is now King’s School Road. By 1840, there was already enough business activity going on here to warrant anothersmith shop built on Meeting Street next door (now Bridge Street). This shop became known as Fenton & Sons Gun Shop because its founders had three brothers – John Fenton (1801-1872), Amos Fenton (1792-1864) and Isaac Fenton (1798-1868). Of note are two pistols manufactured here: The “Parson” Model 1841 which served as Providence’s first revolver; and “Patriotsmodel 1850 Revolver calibers 6mm LaPierre et 4mm Colt Springfield Armory chambered for 26 gauge cartridges” which was used by both Civil War Union forces and American Indians when employed against them during this period By 1861, it had become clear that gun production would not continue at this rate so AmosFenton& Sons moved their operations to Fall River where they continued making handguns using local produce until 1865 when they closed their business due to financial difficulties caused by war fever across America . However , these days you can still find some artifacts from this era such as tools used by AmosFenton& Sonsmiths such as dies made from boards found along Fall River banks . Also significant are two shotguns manufactured here: The single shot shotgun known as “The Black Hawk” which served with distinction within militia units throughout Rhode Island ;and also another shotgun called “The Patriot model 1860 Centennial rifle calibers 12ga Wadsworth & Herter company black powder shotguns chambered for Center fire belted rounds .22 Long Rifle pellets fired through breech blocks wadcutters placed behind barrels like those seen today on military rifles” This particular shotgun was later donated to Brown University after being sold at auctioneers auctioneer failed to meet reserve price

In December 1775, George Washington purchased a cannon from Colonel Nicholas Gage of Portsmouth, NH for $2,500. The cannons stayed in Boston until June 4th of 1776 when they arrived in Providence as part of General James Kirkland's force besieging the city. On July 1st of that year, Providence surrendered and the cannons were taken back to Boston.

Central Falls, Rhode Island is a town in Bristol County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. Central Falls is part of the Providence Metropolitan Statistical Area. One of the first towns in Rhode Island was Coventry (later Central Falls), which was founded by Colonel John Pitcairn on March 12, 1636 as part of an unsuccessful effort to establish a permanent English settlement in what is now New England. Pitcairn and his men built houses near the source of Narragansett River and began to cultivate crops. When they realized that they could not maintain their colony beyond a few years, they abandoned it in 1640 and moved back to England. The first white child born in Central Falls was born on October 15, 1725 to Nicholas Brown and Lois Lane Brown; Lois Lane later married Samuel Weymouth (1711-1773). In 1738 the British Crown granted a charter for the town of Warwick which included land around Central Falls. The town became known as "Central" because it lay at the center of what would become Warwick Township. In 1828–29 John Pierpont bought from Amos Chandler all or part of four square miles (10 km²) east of Central Falls including present-day North Kingstown and South Kingstown for $5 per acre ($2 per hectare). He named this piece at least partially after himself – John Pierpont's Necklace – although there is no evidence he ever visited central falls himself. In 1835–36 James Fenton bought 2 ½ acres (1 km²) north of central falls from Rufus Phillips for $50 per foot (.15 m²). This area became known as Fenton's Necklace because it lay between Williamsburg Bridge and Fenton's home on Front Street/Route 10E (now Route 3A). In 1840 Wm Hickey leased 9 acres (3 hectares) southwest corner lot number two from Elisha Pratt for $50 per year with right to purchase additional lots within 5 years provided he did not build on them; this property became known as Hickey’s Necklace because it adjoined Pratt’s farmstead just south of where Main Street crosses Route 3A today. The pierpont family also acquired parts or all of present-day Springfield Township including Enfield Town line about six miles east along Rte 10W from North Kingstown., but never lived there; these acquisitions are generally considered unconnected with central falls history or culture.. On July 20, 1800 Josephine Trumbull gave birth to her only son by then husband Nicholas Trumbull in Stonington during one week only before leaving for Boston with her sister Lucy Prentiss Trumbull who had been married two weeks earlier there to marry George Putnam .
