In the early 1800s, Central Falls was a thriving town on the Narragansett Bay. The city was founded by English settlers in 1636 and grew quickly after the opening of the Rhode Island Canal in 1791. By 1810, Central Falls had over 1,000 residents and an area of over 10 square miles. The town's economy was based largely on shipbuilding and fishing, but it also developed into a manufacturing center for goods such as guns, ammunition, paper products and clothing. The city's first firearm production facility opened in 1814 in what is now known as the "Old Armory." This facility manufactured rifles and pistols for local militia forces and other law enforcement officials. It remained operational until 1847 when it became surplus to requirements and closed down. During the Revolutionary War, central Falls played an important role as a supply depot for patriot militiamen fighting at sea. When Rhode Island seceded from England in 1776, its gunboats helped protect Newport against British attack. As a result of this service rendered during the Revolution, parts of central Falls were soon named "Newport Plantation." After Rhode Island joined Confederation with America in 1781, firearms production began to resume at what is now known as the "Central Arms Manufacturing Company" (later renamed "Chase Firearms Manufacturing Company"). This company produced rifles and pistols for local militias throughout New England until 1865 when it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester & Co., Incorporated. From here on out, firearms production continued primarily within Winchester & Co., Incorporated at their new factory located in Providence (now Warwick). Throughout much of its history, Winchester & Co., Incorporated suffered from financial difficulties that led to several mergers between different companies before they finally ceased operations in 1984 following a fire at their main plant which destroyed most of their equipment.

The history of firearms in Central Falls, Rhode Island begins with the founding of the town by colonists in 1736. The first gun is said to have been a crude flintlock pistol. The arms and munitions Manufacturers of Providence were among the earliest to be established in the colony, and early guns were made from various materials including hickory, maple, steel and brass. In 1814, a subscription library was founded in Central Falls which still exists today. In 1840, an ordinance was passed allowing for carrying handguns without a license. This led to many pistols being purchased by residents for personal use. However, it wasn’t until 1875 that all handgun possession was banned in Central Falls. Central Falls saw some significant growth during World War II due to its proximity to New York City and its ability to ship food products directly into the war effort. During the 1960s and 1970s, there was significant social change taking place in Central Falls as waves of people from out of state moved into the area following larger waves of immigration throughout RI during that time period. A number of bars and restaurants opened up around this time as well as more nightclubs becoming popular nightlife fixtures within town limits- such as The Checkered Flag Nightclub which still stands today!

Central Falls, Rhode Island is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 10,869 at the 2010 census. Central Falls is one of the oldest towns in the state and it has been continuously populated since 1736. It was named for the falls that run through it on the Narragansett River. The first settlers in Central Falls were three men from England who came overland to what is now central Rhode Island in 1638. They named their new settlement after themselves—Catherine Falls (later renamed Centralia)—because they could not find a fall that drained into the river near where they were living. After several years of searching, they discovered a small stream called Pawtucket Run which emptied into Newbury Bay north of present-day Providence. They built some houses here and started trading with Native Americans who lived along the coast then encountered by European colonists arriving by ship in 1640. One of these arrivals was John Smith, who became known as "the discoverer" of America because he found and naming both sides of Hurricane Harbor ona island off Cape Cod—the first documented discovery of North America west of Canada In 1647, English explorer John Rolfe explored what is now central Rhode Island and named it for his father-in-law Sir Edmund Hillary—an event which also made him an American hero Sir Edmund's party crossed Narragansett Bay on September 9th 1647 while sailing from Plymouth to Virginia with supplies foracing back home to England just before winter set in When news reached London about this exploratory voyage there was great excitement among scientists because knowledge about lost land lay at its feet pile drive began on October 15th next year at Pound Point northwest of present day Providence when two ships carrying 4500 pounds weight were lowered down into place creating what would become known as "The Hole" or "Pound Bluff" today The first settler in Central Falls may have been Nicholas Prentiss who arrived around 1710 although no record exists to support this claim In 1736 Samuel Slater settled here after moving from Exeter Maine
Central Falls was a small town in Rhode Island that was destroyed by fire in 1861. The fire destroyed most of the buildings, leaving only a few ruins to stand. The town was originally known as "The Dumps" because of its large dumpster collection.
