One possible explanation for this discrepancy is that different groups made their introductions to each other through different channels rather than all coming from one place at once. There are several early sites associated with York which include Blue Hill Tavern which served as a meeting house for both residents of Lancaster and Greenfield during the early 18th century; Shaler Ford where traders stopped for supplies during their long journey upriver between Cumberland Valley and Philadelphia; White Hall Inn which may have been built as early as 1710;and finally York Mills located near today's Allentown offshoot of I-69 where woolen fabrics were spun into yarn prior to being exported around the world.
